Muffler Wrap & Wire?

Hi, just wondering what will be a good Muffler Wrap Material that I can get from a Auto Shop or Hardware store that I can wrap my muffler with?

Also what kind of wire is good to hold the muffler in place since I lost my rubber holder.

Wrap your muffler ? Why not paint it with high temp black paint ? It would be nice to wrap HEADERS, but I have heard horror stories about both the excessive heat AND the rust that exists when you remove the wrap down the road. A few years ago I called one of the high temp coating companies ( I think JetHot or something like that out of LA ( lower Alabama...Mobile, I think ). Anyway, I was told at that time that the Wankel was hotter than their product could stand. That may have changed by now, though.

I am a big fan of coating and powder coating where applicable. Nothing better for looks, making it last, and keeping it clean as new. Because if "cleanliness is next to Godliness", than I must say that some of what I've seen is going straight to hell. Good idea: Let's clean em up before we take pictures or part em out !!!

About your hanger ? Get the part, man. Somebody on here has one, I bet.

My muffler is old, stock and is rusty, Because the muffler rubber that hold the pipe up in place broke down. It put pressure were the muffler and pipe bends at over the back wheel axe. So, pretty much I have almost a hole around there and I wanted to wrap it up so it dosen't lose air from there. I am broke so buying a new exhaust is out of the question right now.

well if your broke, save your money until you can get a muffler!!!!! wraping it isnt going to do anything except possibly catch fire!!!

hangers and a universal muffle shouldnt cost you more than 100 bucks at your local muffler shop..... thats not bad

you could attempt to source a used (but good) muffler and hanger from a local forum member or junkyard. i know the pull-a-part in lynnwood gets 1st gens in on a semi regular basis, and they're up on stands do you can access the bottom.

make sure to bring tools and cash moneys with you! i bet they'll charge you $20 for a muffler.

Yea that is a good idea, I should go there and look for that rubber for the muffler. Unless their mufflers are nice then I might be able to get them as well.

It's not rice... It's "resourcefullness"...

I had a car that had two exhaust hang points... One end hung under the engine, the other at the tail end of the car... No hang points in the middle... Exhaust would scrape over every bump, so I hung the rest of the exhaust with coathanger...
