MSD 6A box, with MSD coils. I was going to get Blaster 3 coils, but couldnt get them before my car dies on me cause my stock ones were shot. Anyway, I ended up with Blaster 2 coils. Ive ben told the SS coils perform very well, as well as the high vibration coils. Theyre all basically the same internals with the same output and crap, just different casings (IE - Blaster 2 vs. Blaster 3, same internals, different case). So the choice is really up to you as to what you want.

The msd 6a doesn't have a built in rev limiter does it? What msd box will work with a 12a and uses the rev limiter chips? Or would I just have to use a 6a with the seperate rev limiter msd sells?

The 6A box, and two coils (to make it work "stock") or the box plus 3 coils to make a direct fire setup. Also, youre gonna need some nifty wires to carry the current well (Accel, MSD, Jacobs, Malory, whatever). I cant think of anything else right now...Although, I would suggest at least trying DLDIFIS before you sink cash into the MSD box simply because its so much cheaper (at least for me, I have all the parts), and gets the same, if not better results.

Ok, I just read that and Im making it sound like you need aftermarket coils. Stock coils would work too, but if youre already going through the trouble, why not take the extra step . If youre tight on money, just get two Blaster coils or something, and use one of your stock ones to make the 3 coil direct fire . Just use two matching ones as the leading and you should be fine .

Dont waste $ on the AL. No rev limiter will save you from a missed shift, and as TJ mentioned, itll only cut the leading anyway. When you go MSD, do NOT use the igniters. Go read Paul Yaws site or Mazspeed on doing MSD install.

8krpm is not enough
The MSD 6A is the way to go if you're going to do this. There's plenty of writeups out there on how to install it. Basically the magnetic pickup in the dizzy for the leading igniton triggers the MSD, the MSD then fires 2 coils in parallel (you can use a single, dual post DIS coil if you like). Real simple and easy install, ground, signal, switched +`12v and then high voltage to the coils.
I can't really mention any merits of the system over the DLIDFIS system since I didn't really have time to install that before my stock leading ignitor gave up the ghost and I was pretty much forced to install the MSD box I had. I've never had any problems with it and she runs like a champ right up to redline.
Oh, and on a side note... these beasts will rev past redline on trailing ignition alone. Some people have installed RPM switches on the trailing side to cut them out above 8000rpm and used a 6AL on leading, BUT, this is a BAD idea on a GSL-SE as the ECU gets it's triggering from the trailing ignition. Cutting that out will cause a fuel cut as well as spark. I somehow doubt it'd cause harm to the engine if that happened, but I've heard of no one who has tried it, and most say stay away from the 6AL's unless you're going to run 2 (1 direct fire on the leading, and 1 through the dizzy for trailing). And I havn't really heard alot of that going around anyway.
Becides, the 6AL's are alot more expensive than the 6, and you'll have to buy an RPM switch, relay and other gear to make it work. All in all a big PITA for a simple ignition upgrade

Yes, thats correct. Check out www.summitracing.com for prices on stuff. The coils should be like $30 each if you go with Blaster 2's. The box about $150 I think for the 6A. Or, as I said earlier, use your two stock coils go the junk yard and get another, then use three stock coils if moneys tight. Youll also need misc connectors and mouting stuff to get it all in I would think, but the main parts are the box, three coils for direct firs (if thats what youre gonna do), and the wires.

You dont need a 3rd coil. Only 2 blasters for the leading. The trailing is gonna stay stock anyway so coil upgrade isint necessary. But you can if you want to.
