msd coils...

i just purchased two new msd blaster 2 coils. i remember reading somewhere that they have to be placed vertically for some reason. is this true? should i go ahead and start making a new bracket for them while i'm waiting on them to be shipped? thx,

I have not heard that... I have seen people put them in the stock place with no adverse affects...

I heard that they had to be placed verticallybecause they're oil-filled...

If you do direct fire I think you can just use one of your stock coils as the third one. This is because you don't need as much JUICE to fire the trailing plugs *I THINK*. This is of course, assuming you still have the stock coils.

Good luck with your project!

Here's a stupid question but I've never purchased coils before.

Do they have any documentation with them?? Surely if it's such a bad thing to do the MSD coils they will have a warning somewhere?!

I have seen that they should be upright on a couple of web sites so it might be worth doing it to be safe......

Yes they come with paper work, and yes if you read it they tell you NOT to mount them horizontally or upside down.

T.J. is right...MSD themselves say not to mount them horizontally, yet I have seen it like that on a GT1 racecar...For a few extra dollars, I got myself the HIGH VIBRATION Blasters just in case though.

Yeah, lots of people mount them that way and say they have no problems. Thats fine by me, but personally, I would rather listen to the people who make the product and just put them the way they were intended to be.

If you occasionally rotate the coils then the oil will cover more evenly...that's if you decide to put them in horizontally. I have mine in there like that and they work just fine.
