MSD Coils
MSD Coils
Can I replace my stock leading and trailing coils with the MSD Blaster 2 units and use a stock electronic dizzy? I going to use 2 coils, one for each instead of the usual 2 MSD's for leading and stock coils for trailing. Just one MSD for leading and one MSD for trailing, stock distributor. Does this work good for a boosted, carbed, 13B?
yes you can replace the stock coils with blasters.... completly interchangeable!!!! + to + - to - coil polarity, that is...however if you add 2 MSD 6AL's it will help alot especially with a carbed turbo system!

Oh ok. I understand that then. Wouldnt it make more sense to go direct fire though? I realize you loose the rev control ability, but wouldnt the "better spark" be worth it?

the only way to go direct fire on a 1st gen is to go with an engine management system like a Halltech E6s or a Motec system, .....then yes you could go direct fire and controll the timing and still have revlimiters , plus you can adjust the timing per rpm, tps or map...,,, depending on your tuner!
but for us lowbudget racers,,, a locked dizzy and 2 6al's will have to do!!

umm, you deffinitly can go DFIS with a first gen no problem, you dont need to have a haltech or anything, its better to use an MSD box (6A will work fine and is cheaper) is you got an msd you dont need to even need to use the ignitors.

I guess you have carbon seals and a peripheral port to warrant that kind of abuse?
