Angry msd 6al help please!

i just bought a msd 6al ignition box and installed it according to the link in the faq ( http://www.mazspeed.com/msd.htm ) and no leading spark trailing still works but that setup doesnt change. anyway do the two leading plug wires connect directly to the coils. i did the trouble shooting test as suggested in the owners manual but still no success and are there any other common reasons this setup might not work.

Two wires should go to the ignitor on the dizzy (I'm using the purple/green) and the others (white/orange?, not sure, I forgot), go to the leading coil. I actually removed my leading ignitor, made my own connector, and the 6AL goes directly to the leading side of the dizzy, no ignitor.

ok man you coils are warming up cuz there is something wired wrong.
how do you have it hooked up? are you using the magnetic pick up(purple and green wires) or are you using the small red and small white wires?
Also just hook everything up through the dizzy first to get things running so basicly run your signal through the msd to the single leading coil then through the dizzy like stock. once you have it running and working properly then change over to direct fire.

i know not to use solid core wires but i dont think they are anyway ( http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku ) i actualy work at summit and i had one of our tech guys look at it today but he doesnt realy understand the setup and all looked okay to him. and do i leave the original power supply hooked up to the leading coils? i tried with out it connected first and then with it connected and still same thing.

Unfortunately the MSD wires are under my computer panel, BUT....I am using the Green/Purple as the trigger wires to the Dizzy....the power to the coil would be the same. The orange and black will go to the coil...black to the negative and orange to the positive. This is on the leading coil...these are the ONLY wires that go to the leading coil!

Instead of using the white wire, I used the purple/green as the trigger. I filed down some straight male connectors that fit in the slots in the dizzy without the ignitor installed! Which means you need to REMOVE THE LEADING IGNITOR (the one in the front). THe black plug on the MSD wires will fit perfectly over the white dizzy plug...I used some black car audio putty just to make sure it doesn't move or fall off.

If you really want the power....use a 2nd gen leading coil....it needs to be modified (read the link in the archive) but hooks up to the MSD the same way.....THis will give you true leading ignition direct fire and make the most of the MSD box. You will need 2nd gen leading plug wires, but it will make a big difference in starting, acceleration a bit, and mileage....a must these days.

Pics on how you have it setup would help greatly
Are you using the magnetic pick up? if you dont have the wires proper into the mag pick up you will fire at the wrong time

Well it runs now, but very inconsistantly idle is rough and has strange flat spots through the rpm range like its dropping a few sparks in random places, maybe the rev limmiter is confused(i have the 8000 pill in for now).

On 6al clip both red and blue wires to set for 4 cyl right?

The timing is dead on and all wiring seems well but, i plan on redoing all the wiring over again just to check myself but does anyone have any ideas why this might be hapening?
