Moroso oil pan
Hey - I'm currently fitting a s5 13bt into a s1 rx7 in Oz & was wondering if any of you guys have fitted the Moroso sump part no. 20942 to your car. I'm specifically wondring if there are any mods needed to the cross member or such, clearance issues etc. Any help would be appreciated.

If the pan is designed for a 13B in a 1st gen chassis, then there shouldnt be any clearance issues.
The S5 engine will need to have a first gen front cover since the S4-S5 covers have a different oilpan flange design. If you are retaining the 1st gen style motor mount, then a 1st gen front cover is required anyways.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
the morosso pan does not fit!!!! i have bought several of them and they were all made the same, not to fit anything but a chassis car!!
you have to chop 4 " off the front section in order to clear the crossmember... i have one in my 85 all motor car, if you want i could take some pics of how i had to modify it to fit..

If you could take some pics that would be sweet, in answer to another question yes i have the early style timing cover fitted - tapped for the oil drain etc. I'll throw in this link to show the pan I'm planning on using as Moroso make a few - http://www.moroso.com/catalog/catego...?CatCode=11116 - this is the one I'm looking at using. I've measured it up against a custom one a mate ran and the physical dimensions look ok but the sump section is straight up & down and has no scallopesd section like on the factory pans so I'm thinking this may cause clearance to cross-member problems etc. Thanks for the quick replies - any help is appreciated.

your own link tells you it won't work. You will have to modify it...
"Fits Mazda 13B Rotary Engines used in Mazda RX-3 & RX-4 models; several rotary engine conversions including 1981-84 Toyota Starlet, 1964-83 Toyota Corolla, 1971-73 Datsun 1200 & others with little or no crossmember modifications; also tube chassis cars"

As I said before - I have compared the info from the site to an actual modified factory s1 rx7 sump close in dimensions (which as far as I know needed no mods to fit) and it's just about spot on - all I need to do now is speak to someone who's actually fitted the Moroso unit to see what mods (if any) are needed before I shell out 500 odd clams for it. Thanks for your wisdom there hyper4mance2k but I can read.
