more whinning (strange sounds..)

85 GSL

so time for another unknown for me.

first off my problem is a groaning/squeaking sound hard to describe, sounds like a bad wheel bearing kinda. i had a bad driver's front wheel bearing, so i changed both inner/outer bearings and the noise went away when i turned right (the only time it occurred). so that problem is gone, but now i get the same kind of noise from the rear driver's side. i checked for play on the wheel and there's NONE.

the noise is not persistent either, it only happens sometimes. specially if i turn slightly at slow speeds, or when slowing down, so at about 3mph. it's a very loud annoying vibration.

so there's no play on the wheel so i don't think it's a bad rear wheel bearing. i was thinking maybe my rotors were warped, but what other symptoms should i look for if this is the case? i took the wheel off and looked at them and they looked good, nothing really visually..... i'm just getting annoyed with this inconsistent problem, thanks in advance.

Does it happen only when the brakes are applied, or all the time?

Does it matter which way you are turning?

Does it happen in reverse?

Have you checked the oil level in your diff?

It might be rear wheel bearings. Have they ever been changed on this car? They die at about 90000 miles, at least mine did.

it happens mostly when turning slightly right, or coming to a slow stop. I was thinking it was the wheel bearing, but i did the jack the car up and check for play on the wheel and there was NONE. i'm trying to find time to take the wheel off and visually inspect the bearings.

the noise only comes at random times but usually at slow speeds, i've tried moving the steering wheel while driving to see if i can get it to make the noise so i can better diagnose it, but it won't do it, its weird.

i personally have not replaced rear bearings, i don't believe the P.O. did either, i just replaced the front bearings since those were about shot too

diff. fluid was changed around February.
