Fuel questions

I have hooked up a new Holley Blue fuel pump and a Holley 1-4 psi regulator. I am running a Dellorto DHLA 48 on a GSL-Se 13B. I hooked up the fuel pump because if I spent too much time with my foot down (WOT for more than 5 seconds, the carburetor was not getting enough fuel and the car would start bucking. Well with the new pump, I can go WOT longer without it bucking, but it STILL reaches a point where the car becomes powerless for 5 or so seconds as the carburetor re-primes and fills with fuel. I thought 110GPH would be enough! So what is wrong? MY theories are that either a) the pump is not being adequately fed by the gas tank b) I am tuned to the wrong fuel pressure (what should a dell run at?) or c) the car is sunning too rich and bogging, not running to lean and dying. Any other theories? Also, my fuel pressure keeps fluctuating, if the car is off with no vacuum and the pump running, the gauge read 5, with the car running, the gauge reads 2.5 (what I have set it to), and when I first hooked up the system, with the regulator on full low (should've been at) it was at 6! when I started the engine it sucked the air out of the lines and idled well.

Last question, I have fuel leaks at all the brass barb fittings on the FPR and they're super tight up to the point where I'm scared tightening them more would destroy them, are there any gasketting htings I could use (plumbers tape, RTV, or w/e) that will resist corrosion to gaqsoline, and help seal everyhting up?
