more updates on the pos '85 GS :)

well.. this should sum up what im planning on doing to the pos air pump i got my tube of RTV sealant handy and going to buy some washers tommorrow

1 16325-AC&CV Cover Plate
1981-92 RX-7 Non-turbo 6.00 6.00
1 16730-Intake Gasket
74-75 & 81-85 12A Engines 3.00 3.00
2 16735-Intake Water O-rings 2.20 4.40
Sub Total $13.40
TOTAL 13.40

ok well heres what ive been doing:
stripping the engine bay clean and preparing for sanding / painting i took out the remaining pieces of the radiator housing today since the housing is getting sanded by itself since it got pretty bummed up when i was taking the stupid heat exchanger for the AC out...
the coils and the coil clamp are also getting painted (ill cover the connectors before i do it) one of the forum members has a fender for me and its the next thing on my agenda for purchases my grandmothers making a donation of $30 to my fund, and im gonna go collect the $20 some lady owes me for a computer monitor i sold her...so that compensates for the other..

the next thing that i'll be doing is ordering flanges from RB to replcae the cat with a custom welded pipe...

errr fawk i've been sitting here while writing this cleaning my intake manifold and i just noticed that the shuttervalve is STUCK !
!!!! this could be a problem :|
did a search..the general consensus seems to be remove it or disable it...but if i remvoe it..what should i use to fill the holes where the rod that held its flapper up and i guess ill have to fab up a little mini breather for the hole that is created by removing the shutter valve :\

Don't remove the shutter valve, just un-freeze it and the wire it to the fully open position. The primary runners for #1 rotor and #2 rotor are vastly different and the shape of the #2 primary depends on the shutter valve shaft being there.

Remove the shutter valve and cap the opening with a carriage bolt, seal the inside hole good, push the carriage bolt through and put a washer and nut on the back side...

Say see ya POS, and throw it at some v8 driver

How can you tell if it's fully open before you wire it?

I'm sure you don't want to know...... Lets just say it involved a match and a stick of dynamite

but for real, sounds like he took a drill to it.

Flathead screwdriver, small tip, carefully drive it in next to the E shaft and the bearing... bend it inward, try not to destroy the e shaft.. Do it on 2 sides and you can then take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it right out, takes like 2 minutes tops... Or buy the puller for $50

Now what I did after I got it out, I stomp on it, and hit it with a hammer many times, felt really good

I like throwing them against the wall and making the needle bearings fly all over the place.

btw i found something DUMB that was wrong with my car (damn those monkeys that worked on my car before i bought it)
the coils werent connected to the wires, they were touching but the connector from the wire wasnt going down into the coil it was jammed sidways across the top of it...
