more power

i've been a 1st gen 12a owner but just picked up an 13b n/a and the motor is in peices and figure it's the best time to make more power but need to know what the best thing i should do. I know i'll be turboing it but not sure of all what i should do. I'm looking to get 400+ maybe 500 hp

You're not going to make that kind of power on NA internals. I suggest you do some reading in the Single Turbo forum if you're serious.

What type of 13B is it Tom, 4 or 6 port? You want a 4 port if you hp goals are that high. Essentially porting and the right turbo/intake/exhaust will get you there. Of course you'll be paying some money for all the internals you'll need for it with seals, springs, stat gears, bearings, etc.

Will not happen. Sure, you can get a 500hp 13bt for that, but then you will need a stronger transmission.. new custom driveshaft... ford 9" rear end, bigger rims and tires, Roll cage, upgraded fuel system, upgraded exhaust, upgraded ignition, etc.

You are looking about twice that for a nice package that can handle the power and not rip itself out of the engine bay or crack your windshield in half.

A 200hp first gen is tons of fun to drive in, 500 would be insane, you would have no traction unless you had 12" slicks in the back on the highway.

Personally, I would shoot for say 300HP for now. You can always go higher later. 300HP in a 1st gen is plenty fast.

I am bored so I made you a list:

Basic roll bar, you will need a cage IIRC:
http://www.modacar.com/products/Mazd...Roll+Bars.html

Good luck finding a cage, I found one for 2nd gens though.

Upgraded transmission: Turbo 2 transmission
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-M...em200197171188
$300

Rebuilt 13BT:
http://www.atkinsrotary.com/index.php?pag=9
$2100-$2200
Streetported (to make that kind of power)
Add $580
http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda2.htm Part # 11401

Custom Driveshaft:
$200
Local transmission shop

Rear end:
Solid rear end from grannys speed shop
Starting at $850
http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/

Set of wheels and tires:
www.tirerack.com
$1750

Ignition system:
2 MSD 7AL boxes: 219.90 x2
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Fuel system:
Walbro 255 fuel pump:
http://www.injectedperformance.com/V...t.aspx?ID=1635
Rising Rate Regulator:
http://www.injector.com/fuelregulators.php
Anywhere from $50 to $200

Are you going carb or FI? Carb and manifold would be RB Weber 51IDA, your looking at excess of $1000 plus getting it boost prepped.

FI, look for megasquirt. That should also run you around a grand give or take.

Turbo? GT-35 will spool nicely. Maybe a 40 if you are frisky. Look for a complete turbo kit. If you are not making your own, then Buy one:

http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/gr...0td06%20fc.htm

Theres another 2500+ spent.

That is just to name a few off the top of my head. I have no plans on going anywhere past 300, maybe someone with more knowledge than myself can chime in on all the knick nacks I am missing.
