moon roof rattle fix

I posted a while back asking how to stop that very annoying sun roof rattle that is notorius in the 1st gen. I didn't get a lot of feedback and came up with a fix of my own - very simple but effective - for those that know what I'm talking about:

I took one of those peel off surface protectors that they use on the bottom of chair legs to protect floors from scuffs and scratches and stuck it to the top of the piston that lifts the roof. Absolutely no rattle and the roof seals as solid as it ever did - there ya go

I've always had trouble posting pic's here - anyway, you don't need a pic. Just remove the roof, and stick a cushioned floor saver on the top of the square shaft that lifts the roof and put the roof back on.

No, just on top of the plate that lifts the roof. So the roof sits on top of the surface protector. That way, the surface protector can take up the "slack" and hold the roof more tightly.

GREAT idea by the way!! Very intelligent!!

Yeh - that's usually when it's the worst - this should fix it - did on mine which rattled bad when open. Keep in mind it's the contact between window and the "square shaft" that is causing the rattle. The shaft may not be fully in contact with the window when closed but it definately is when its open.

Not always. The hinges can also be to blame.
