Moded Nikki Carb issues

Alright I have a stock car with all emissions off and it has a RB header and full exhaust and i just put on a moded nikki carb on it and am having issues getting the car to run right. It seems to not be getting fuel through the spray nozzles but is getting gas from the gas hose. We cleaned the carb completely out. The carb has mechanical secondaries and looks simple on the outside just cant figure out whats going on.We dont know what jet size to use. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John

try the fuel filter, and if that doesnt work, it probably the vacuum leak. unless youve changed the jets, i wouldnt worry about it. those arent really ever a problem, unless they get clogged. if you think they are, you can revv up the motor, and put your hand over the carb, and it should creat a powerful vacuum, and pull whatver is clogging the jet, out.

then if you think it is a vaccum leak then you can find that by having a friend hold the motor run as stable as possible, and spray some sort of aeresol(carb cleaner or starting fluid work the best) around the intake and along the vaccum lines, and when the revvs increase. thats where the leak is. let us know whats going on.

and if none of that works, im sure kentetsu would be willing to give you a hand, he's in GR.

If you're getting fuel to the carb but none out of the jets, the needle valves may be stuck or the float level may be set wrong. Check the fuel level in the bowls. There is a window on each bowl, and fuel should be half way up the glass. You may need a small mirror to see the back one. If the level is low, tap the top of the carb with a screw driver handle or something to jar the needle valve loose. If this doesn't work, you may need the person who modded the carb to work on it.

If you think you have a fuel delivery problem, check the FSM for proper procedure to check fuel pressure and volume. Could be clogged filter, clogged lines, or bad fuel pump.

Good luck!

Well i know it is getting fuel to the hose cuz i pulled it off the carb and turned the key and it shoots fuel. The car will run good off of starting fluid.

When you look into the fuel windows on the front/back of the carb, can you tell if there is gas in there? If not, then try tapping on the top of the carb as suggested above...

I checked out the fuel level in the windows and they are at the half way mark. The carb i just pulled apart cleaned out all the airbleeds and jets and everything and put it back together. The thing i have a question on is that the numbers on my jets are saying like 92 and 160 and people were saying to put .036 in them. Is that standard and metric or whats going on. Also does anyone know or of or have a working carb around to make sure it is the problem. I did do a compression test and checked for spark and the compression was 120 and that spark was good.

Which spray nozzles are you not getting fuel out of, the accellerator jets, or the venturies?

92 and 160 are the stock sizes for primary and secondary jets - metric. 92 = .92 mm.

.036 refers to inches. .036 inches = 0.9144 millimeters.
