Mirror help?
Is there suppose to be a rubber mount behind the rear view mirror and windshield to keep it more stable? If so is this an aftermarket item? Or know where I can get one?
I've heard about this, apparently this was included with every RX-7 sold but many didn't know what it was and so it got thrown away.
Basically from what I've heard, the mirrors were designed to break away in a crash for some reason, and so they were held on pretty flimsily. So they included this little rubber thing that you could use.
With my old 12" JL, the mirror used to shake so bad it was entirely useless.

On mine, theres a little nub that's pointing up towards the windshield. The nub is on the arm that holds the mirror. The original rubber is gone, but if you cut some large diameter vacuum hose, it'll fit and holds nicely. I suspect, form the crud makrs on teh windshield above it, that the stock rbber was similar to what I'm using now. I used 1/4 ID hose I think, and about half an inch long. It was that thick walled stuff like for fuel and stuff. Fit it on the nub and wedge it against the windshield.

I found mine in the ashtray of my 85. The original owner didn't know what it was, but he knew it belonged in the car somewhere, so he just kept it. I bought the car in 95, so it was in there for about 10 years.
