Mini-update: Rising from the ashes (Rust flakes)
It's not dead yet!
It all started when I got side swiped by a blonde in a Lexus RX300. All the Panasports got curbed, seal in the steering box was damaged, making all the fluid leak out all over my garage floor, and the passenger side was all scuffed with some dingage on the trailing edge of the right fender, and leading edge of the door.
This got the car off the road initially, then I found the rust.
I'm still mad

So with $2350 from the bitches insurance company, I'm about to order a ReSpeed rack & pinion kit, strut bars, rear links, and install all my other **** (bushings, racingbeat springs, Tokico Illuminas, etc.) Not to mention get the wheels machined back to their former perfection.
After a year of my bullshit (not working on the car like I should be, no excuses) This is where I sit.

Here's the source of some sheet metal, suspension, Holley fuel pump, fuel tank (I FUBAR'd mine accidentally), and some other things.
Those panasports, and everything else on the car are for sale by the way (send me a PM)

Nice! Was wondering how panasports would look with formula white 1st gens. Looks great! Looks like it's going to turn out better than before. I have that same exact rust spot on my 83 GSL behind the bins, not as much though. How hard was cutting it out and putting new metal in? Looks like you just put some patch over the the rust on the drivers side? Keep us posted on getting her back on the road.

It's a huge bitch, it helps to have special tools (Spot weld bit, nibbler, all the grinders and associated metalworking tools) and welding skills though.
All the rust on the passenger side was cut out in squareish patches, and 22g sheet metal welded in over the holes with a 1/2 inch overlap, welded on each side, and a panel of 16g welded on the outside as a reinforcement. The drivers side will be the same, but I only have the rusted metal removed so far.
And USE WELD THROUGH PRIMER AND SEAM SEALER! This will keep the metal between the welded sheets from rusting like the stock ones did.

OT. Sorry for the hijack... but is that an extra 280 in the ceiling of your garage?
Talk about having lots of cool toys.
