if you need more suggestions for local shops, may be hit up the northeast forum as they have more knowledge of local info.

What's up with your engine?

The only reason I ask is because you'd be amazed at the number of people who are told by non-rotary mechanics that they need an engine rebuild when the problem is something different entirely. I once had a mechanic tell me that I needed a new timing chain, another one said I needed new heads.

Then again, 12as are 30yrs old at this point, so a lot of them really do need rebuilds, but figured I'd check.

I had a rotorhead tell me my engine needed a rebuild because the carb on it was poorly tuned...

I don't know if I'm going to need a rebuild. My car has been in storage for about two years and I know how that is not a good thing for the motor. I'm hoping I won't need a rebuild however I want to know where to take it if I do. Thank you for your reply.

Mine was in storage for 5+ when I first got it. The engine was seized. Creative use of Automatic Transmission Fluid, an old windex bottle and the spark plug holes got it turning again. I've put another 60,000+km on it after that (and it's still going)

Check out the FAQ, there's a good set of threads there on what to check and do on a car that's been sitting for a long time. If it's a 12a engine with under 200,000km on it I'm sure it'll be fine without a rebuild unless it's been beat to crap its whole life.

Good luck,

Jon
