My mfsw is sticking really far onto the steering shaft and the steering wheel is hitting it before it seats on the knurls. Im going to check tomorrow to make sure the steering wheel looks is lined up(steering shaft is in the right spot). Am i installing it wrong? The knurl part is flush or a little bit out from the face of the switch.
1. Are you lining up the plastic pins on the switch with the holes in the steering wheel? If you force, they will break and you'll have no turn signal cancel function.
2. See this photo of the position where mine sits and interfaces correctly (note the pins in the photo)
Looks like mine are broke already, it came with an aftermarket wheel. I got it to line up with a little hammer adjusting. Hopefully the one from my parts car is good

I remember breaking mine as well 20 years ago when I thought it would be cool to add a Grant Steering wheel with red wannabe nitrous buttons -lol. I had to go to the junkyard and pull a replacement one. This was back when you could find at least 5+ rx7's at every local junkyard. I would try and look for a replacement one on ebay or put a WTB on the rx7 classifieds.

Depending on what year you have, you can still get the turn signal cancel piece - it just pops in.
Also, for others having this issue after having the car apart or whatever - it is possible that the outer tube of the steering column has moved (it is just a slip fit into the steering box) relative to the steering column itself (the splined shaft that actually turns), not leaving enough space for the turn signal switch. I had this issue - pushing the tube back into the box solved it and the switch fit fine.
It's great that part is still available. It made me wonder if there's a 3D model, which I did not find in a quick search, but there was a reference to using a b2000 combination switch from AliExpress. Apparently they are still available and it's under $30 shipped
