Mazspeed went down late last week.

I was thinking Mike may have finally pulled the plug. Then just 5 minutes ago I realized, hmm, he's down in Florida, and they have this weather thingy happening there, so maybe the hatches have merely been battened down.

I hope.

That storm Katrina didn't affect anything near our area. Must just be something wrong with the site. I feel sorry for New Orleans, they are going to be hurtin real bad after tomorrow. I'm glad it didn't whip back in my direction though.

Mike has already left the site. Pratch is running it now. If anybody has any news I would like to know.
As far as I know Mike is still in CA doing his Camaro project, right Steve?

I think he has been out of RX's for some time now. He is doing a sixties vintage Camaro. It is awesome. If they ever get the site back up, go take a look. He has dropped a ton of cash in to it already.

He didnt' "change from rotary", he changed from RX-7 to an old Camaro. (Thanks for setting me straight on that, I'd forgotten that pratch was running the show) There's more to a car than the engine.

Hell, if I had a chance to get a vintage F-body and the stipulation was that I had top get rid of the RX-7s, you can bet there'd be a Camaro in my garage.

If I had a chance to get a vintage rotary REPU, and get rid of a camaro, you can bet there'd be a green REPU in my driveway.

Yea,Mike's not just a rotary guy.Hes got/had all kinds of toys over the years.
The SA he had was more a racer/hobby type car anyways.I dont think he actually relied on it for transpo.
People's interests change when it comes to their spare time.I personally have put a LOT of time/effort lately into building my Samurai rock crawler.I havent touched the RX all year, although I still drive it almost everyday for transpo. Its not that I dont have more plans for the RX-7,but it gets old wrenching on the same project vehicle year after year.

Are you converting it to ro-power? Nothing involving the direction of this thread - just that it seems to be a common swap.

Naw,wouldnt be CA smog legal, although I have seen a 13B powered Sammy and a couple rotary rock buggies.
I pulled the V-6 out of my old high school 78 GLC and popped it into the Sammy last year.I finished the basic buildup in the Spring and have been driving it since then.Ive got one serious run under my belt so far,up at Sierra Trek a few weeks ago.

Saved a lot of $$$ doing all the drivetrain fab myself and shopping Ebay. The big money is in the future as I aquire all the neccesities for a serious long term rock rig.Stuff like bumpers, winch, cage, welder, air, armor, ect.

Hey guys. I was told that there was a problem with my site and in fact it is gone. I'm not sure why or how or anything else, but I do have back ups from about 6 months ago but I don't know if Pratch took over any of the new stuff. I paid the last bill for the site about 3 months ago, and never got a renewal notice from Network associates on needing to renew everything. I thought everything was paid in full to this point, but for some reason it's gone. I think Pratch was to get in touch with Bill my buddy and the one who is hosting the site, but don't know if he got threw to him. Pratch was suppose to take over long ago and never really did, at least never to my knowledge took it off of the current servers and never hosted it at the one he was going to host it at. I'm very sorry that I didn't get any notice as no one did of the sites demise. I tried to logon the wannawow account for mazspeed and it's not there anymore so the site is gone. Like I said I do have a backup of it if anyone wants it. Sorry to all who make that website popular and to everyone that took the time to visit. It was a great learning experience for me as well.

Yes I did get into classic camaros as my father has a few classic cars himself and I thought it was time to do a new project with another car in mind. The reason I went with the Camaro was that the prices were and are going skyward, and I wanted something that handled like a vette, stopped like a vette, and was able to leave a viper driver squinting to see my plates. We have achieved all of this, but also wanted a classic American car platform to start with, and with all of the modern day components that were at my disposal. Nothing from the rotary and the rx-7, but it's hard to dump $60k into a car and not see some sort of decent value at the end of the day. The rx-7 would never hold that kind of value and the camaro won't either right now, but in time it might. The car is almost done, but now the body work is next. I have decided on a different color scheme and you guys will be the first to see if there is any interest in it here. Thanks for the years of support on the mazspeed site.

Cheers
Mike

I had forgotten to look here while trying to find out what was going on.

The short end: the host pulled the plug with ZERO warning and is being awfully slow at getting it up long enough for me to transfer the database.

tom@ten15.net is the most appropriate place to communicate with me.

As soon as it is up, I'm grabbing the db, contacting our long-time-planned-new-host, and getting things rolling. So long as he hosts it, it ain't gonna go nowhere.

Apologies to all for this, but as I stated, I had absolutely no warning at all about this.

The site itself has had current backups for some time and I just resynced this morning. The database, however, shouldn't be purged and again, it's as simple as the host responding to my emails.

As Mike mentioned above, when he got out, he tossed the reins to me. His host mentioned 6 month plans, so I figured when I didn't hear otherwise, that things were kosher until several months down the road. I renewed the domain registration a few weeks back, and have no plans of letting this site go anywhere.

Motor has been doing pretty well. Something happened with my throttle cable last night, but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I also don't get to drive it as much since becoming self-employed (read also, laid off)

I still have saved shots of Andrews hack-job somewhere on my old HDD, along with the time it took for him to get it, and it ain't nuttin to be braggin' about, dude.

Robert. You're an idiot. Nothing proves this more then your recent post. No doubt Sterling, that was the worst work I have ever seen. Also Robert, learn to spell "Camaro". ******* moron. Andy's car is never driven you idiot. He has put a total of 50 miles on the car since you threw it together. Some of the worst work I have ever seen, and way to get it to him in a timely matter. I also hear your shipping times are down from 6 months to 4 months, great CS you have there.
