Marvel Mystery Oil

I have head of people using marvel mystery oil when they premix. Right now i just use 2 cycle oil to premix. I wanted to hear from anyone who has used Marvel or knows about using it to premix. And do you use only marvel or like a 50/50 of marvel and 2 cycle oil?

Stick with the two cycle oil, that is what it is designed for. MMO is supposed to do a lot of things, but is mostly wax based from what I understand. I know a lot of people have used it for premixing, and I'm sure a lot of them have had no issues with it. I'm sure you'll get a lot of different opinions in response to this question...

I usually add some MMO now and again but not as a premix.

i don't premix, i still have the omp but i still add a bit of MMO in there just for added measure, and no complaints it actually idle smoother.

but as far as using it as main premix, i think there was a whole discussion a while back saying that it wouldn't burn as 2 cycle does or something, so maybe just replace a small amount of your 2 cycle mixture with it

as a side story, i went to wally world to buy a bottle of it and ran into a friend and he got excited because i had a bottle of MMO he then informed me that he thought i had bought a gun because that's what he uses to clean his guns

Sometimes, I will take 89oct add a lil heavy premix, and spike it with mmo, it gives me spongey gas pedal, and smells neat.. no problems yet.

Some config that was unique when I was trying different premixes and what-not.

Here's my vid of using MMO a few weeks back. Let me tell you, this **** works AMAZING. I had started to think the coolant seals in my motor were gone because it was becoming incredibly hard to start the car. After using this, for about a month now the car starts immediately. Couldn't have been more pleased..

Sounds like it took MMO a month to do what Seafoam could have done (through the gas tank) in a matter of minutes. My results have always been damn near instantaneous with Seafoam.

I mixed 8 oz. of MMO into every fill up religiously for several years on the assumption it must be good for the engine (I always use the OMP as well). I always thought the little bit of smoke I noticed at start up was just they way rotaries are, since it was always the same on all three of my 84/85 GSLs over the years. Of course I had always mixed MMO into the gas.

Then one day about a year ago RX-7 friend Mike points out that he's never used MMO on his all orginal 12A in his 85 GSL, this as he's turning over 250,000 miles on the car (he's added several more since and his 12A just keeps getting stronger).

So I figure maybe I don't need to be going through the extra time and expense of adding the MMO (not to mention the stares at the gas pump). I quit putting it in about a year ago and 30,000 miles ago.

The only noticeable difference is that I no longer have that puff of exhaust smoke at startup and I don't have to clean the yellow grundge that used to accumulate above the exhaust pipe every month or so (now it's noticeable about once a year, about right for a non cat car).

(PS, that yellow grundge comes right off with a little rubbing alcohol on a rag).

So, while putting the MMO in my tank always made me feel better, I'm not so sure it did anything for the car. And stopping the practice has put a few extra bucks in my pocket and a few extra minutes in my day.

I still have a few large bottles of the stuff sitting out in the garage.... (if you insist, buy it in the 32 oz. bottles at WalMart, not the 16 oz. bottles at the parts store, it's much less expensive that way).

i should have added that the main reason i add it is because i'm cheap and lazy, my omp lines broke about a year and a half ago, and i replaced them with fish tank lines, which work great, but during the summer the oil drops really fast off the lines, and i didn't feel like doing a drop of oil into the carb, or holding the omp lever during warm up, so that's why i do a bit of premixing about 3-4oz per fill up.

i agree with ray, i went to the local dollar store (dollar general) and they only had a 16oz. bottle for about 3 bucks, at walmart they have the 32oz for about 3.50...sells itself lol

I use it for assembly oil, gun oil, RC oil, and sometimes put it in with my motor oil. Have to love the smell
