maaco paint

i know it is probably crap paint, considering the price...
but my car has a gnarly fade spot (btw im rebuilding the carb and should be done tues)
on the drivers side rear of the car around the hatch, because the previous owner had a window in his garage and it spewed light onto it all the time,

but back on topic, how much would a "quality" paint job that would last cost me, and how long will the maaco paint actually last.

maaco is all hit and miss depending on the owner of the franchise. I have seen some really good paint jobs from maaco that cost around 800 bucks. I have also seen some really bad ones!
Its all about prep work too. I do suggest you remove everything from car though lights etc they just tape off that ****!

maaco from what i understand they do the job by the hour.. so x amount of dollars= so many hours spent.. they can do real good jobs if you spend a lil more money, the ambassador paint for 200 bucks is asking for everything from mirrors to tires to be sprayed in. I was thinkign about hitting up maaco myself for a 800-1000 respray.. go talk to tehm and find out what they will do prep work wise etc etc..

It sounds like if you are gonna do that i would almost, as yetter said, take EVERYTHING off, maybe even do alot of the prep work yourself so they just have to touch up your prep work and paint it.

No matter how much prep work you do Maaco will still f*ck it up. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO MAACO! Seriously, save up some more money and get it done right.

no neccesarily ive seen some pretty shitty jobs with tons of fish eyes come from very reputable shops and some badass flip/flop and very clean jobs come from maaco, its all in how much money you want to spend.. just because its a national chain doesnt mean its gonna be shitty... its all about the owner and his employees.

OK.. The odds are high they will f*ck it up, and if you do your own prep work then they will just blame you. Good luck...

Well I worked at a tire shop just 2 blocks from a Maaco and we did all of their alignments. I say you're looking at 50/50. Now from personal experience, my mom had her car done their, granted it was just faded and needed limited prep, it turned out great. I had a buddy who had a good job done and another buddy who had a very good job done which has help up for over 10 years now. So, I've seen 3 for 3 on personal experience, and 50/50 or better professional experience.

Never hurts to do some personal prep ahead of time when we're talking about a cheap paint job.
