LSD/Disc Brake compatability among Mazdas
is a 929 rear wheel drive?
chances are it wouldnt fit though,
a mazda rx7 rear end is setup for handling and racing,
mainly the mounting system,
on the other hand a 929 is all out luxory
so chances are it would be mounted diferently

and then they kept selling the 929 alongside the millenia for a while
http://members.aol.com/solomiata lots of stuff interchanges between the Miata and the 1st-gen. The Miata is rather like a boinger 1st-gen with wishbone suspension and a drop-top. But the site also has a wealth of other Mazda drivetrain history and swap info, beyond Miatas.

Mazda still uses numbers over here
... well except for Xesdos6 ... which I THINK is a Millinia ... they came with an option of a Miller cycle engine ?
Some of the brake parts are interchangeable between 1st Gens and the early RWD 626's ... I doubt the axles are the same though

Just keep searching, you'll find a GSL rear. They aren't *that* rare.
