Lsd?

I have a 1985 gs with a 12 a. Does anyone know if my car has a Limited Slip Differential or not?

How can I tell?

Thanks

Why not put both questions into a single post? Anyway, jack up the rearend and turn one tire. If the other turns the same way, it's LSD. If not, it's a regular diff.

no, gs didnt have a LSD, if your car has rear disk brakes, then it probably has one, but gs dont.

Drive your left rear tire onto a patch of grass with your right rear tire on pavement. Then rev it up high and dump the clutch. If your right rear tire leaves a decent patch of rubber behind then you've got a LSD rear.

no.. listen to Jeff20B.. jack up the rear end (the WHOLE rear end) and turn one tire. If the other turns the same way then it has LSD.

yeah okay but my method is much more fun. :P Either method will test positive on a new LSD but keep in mind that the clutches loosen up over time and both tests can fail for you. BTW, my rear has a bright yellow sticker on it that says "Limited Slip Differential", that's probably the easiest method.
