Lots of smoke...all of a sudden

Well after starting my car up to set off for school tonight there was a huge amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust. Hard to tell the color at night, but its sort of greyish white I think. Not coolant, but more smells like oil. Compression is still great and the car starts right up and idles fine. No weird hesitations or anything, just a lot of smoke. Please tell me its the OMP and not a side/corner seal. Engine bay looks fine (not that would give any indication)

Last time I drove it (friday) it was fine.

Edit: car is a stock '84 SE with 111k miles on original engine

was it cold out? could just be condensation form the exhaust. i parked my RX-7 on a hill for about a week once, and when i started it, it smoked for awhile and stopped.

It isn't your corner or side seals.

Probably your oil seal.

check your oil level, see if it dropped at all.

One time I was sitting at a stop light in the White One (my 84 GSL) and I needed to scoot over into the turn lane real fast so when it turned green I gunned it. A HUGE cloud of smoke came out the back, obviously oil smoke, like I'd never seen before (I couldn't see the car behind me). I thought that was the end, but it turned out to just be a big old belch, the car ran fine after that and no more smoke for a couple more years with normal oil consumption and just the puff of smoke on cold start ups (worse after sitting a few days).

I think what can happen is a little oil gets by the oil control seals for some reason and burns all at once. Not a good thing but as long as it's not happening all the time you may be OK, at least for awhile.

Ok it went away after about 5-10 minutes. I guess it was just leaving it for a few days in near-freezing weather.

Same problem here. I got my hand on a 45 webber on a 12a. The mechanic installed it and told me it is running fine. When i went to pick up the car, boy did i noticed it is not fine at all. First thing i noticed was the amount of smoke coming out. Blue / Grey-ish color. I asked about the smoke and he replied that the oil line is running in the manifold to the weber to keep cool, and is the vacumm when the gas pedal is let off. he say's it is running rich. Engine not leaking oil, coolant lot leaking and full to level. he say's its a old school weber and might be that the jets might be to big for a stock 12a. I have put alot of money to replace so many parts, I am too deep to sell. I will post some pics of the set up and a video asap for all to see. Does anybody know of a mechanic in NY. I am located in Yonkers, NY.

Dcoe's can smell like gas if they're running rich or lean. I have an old style one too. Lot's of info and instructions/suggestions/explanations here.
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=882842 I have a PDF. version of the weber service manual too, if you need it pm me with email address.

Fuel rich exhaust tends to be dark gray/black but it can be lighter. Were the oil control o-rings replaced during the rebuild? Oil tends to burn blue so it could be both fuel and oil.
