Lots of play in water pump pulley, and some noise. How long will it last.

I thought that it was the belts making the skreaching sound but then when I tuged on the belt i noticed the pulley moved. If I grab the top of the fan I can shake it about 1.5 inchs. I dont have the money to fix it right now but I will in the next week or so. How long will it last.

I saw a water pump fail within minutes. Started making clicking noises, then a few minutes later the bearing locked up, or at least it tried to lock up, and the shaft hole got wallowed out big-time and the belt came off and all the coolant sprayed out. (It was cool)

The question is, got a cell phone? How about good shoes?

Try calling local auto parts stores and see how much a reman water pump is. You might be surprised.

Be sure your low coolant light is working and have a cell phone and a friend with a tow truck, or good shoes. It's a time bomb man.

Do not drive a seven with a bad water pump!!!! Heat is not our friend in this case. This is one area where you shouldnt go cheap on the parts. Get a good water pump to help push the water through good to keep her cool and the better the pump the longer it will last for you. When you can grab water pump/base of the fan and wiggle it in any direction DONT DRIVE IT replace it ASAP.
