looking to upgrade somethings

Alright I was looking to upgrade some parts on my car and I'm running into some problems. First my shift **** will not come off I've tried turning it and it won't budge. Second interior seats. Love my seats, but I like the way miata seats look. I want some input on this.

If it's the stock ****, eat some Wheaties and twist harder. Some aftermarket *****, Momo, are held on with set screws.

Look at the chrome piece at the base of the ****. See it has wrench flats? Put a wrench on it, hold the **** and back off the chrome piece. Its a lock nut for the ****.

Edit: pull the boot down to see the flats.

The whole shifter won't move.

The **** is a two-piecer. There's a chrome nut that holds it on. Put a wrench on it, hold it, and turn the **** around counterclockwise.

Glue? It won't hold. Just put some muscle on it. Try to tighten that nut; it'll break the glue loose.

If it's been lock-tited on, you may be in trouble. The permanent lock-tite versions need heat to loosen.
