locking the disributer??!??
OK, I have read a lot of post on putting a turbo on a 12a. Most of which say to lock the ditributer. Now I just wanted to know how to do it. What exactly do I have to do to lock it?
You can pull the dizzy apart EASILY. Take the vacuum advances off, take the screws off and pull the guts off carefully, and you are left with the weights and springs. You can remove the springs and tac a wield on each of the weights so they are out and you have max advance all the time. Make sure you put the vacuum diaphrams back on so they have the correct L-T split though.
Correct. Also, make sure to rotate the outer shaft for full advance and then tack the weights. This is so if the welds break, it won't accidentally advance itself and kill your apex seals.

I'm not exactly sure what outer shaft are you guys talking about? All i did is wire the weights together. Was that a bad idea? What would be some of the signs if the wire came loose?
Oh yeah, there is an easier way to get to the weights through the bottom gear.

if the wire came loose, the weights would be thrown outwards if you were under load, (gas pedal to the floor), and it would advance your timing to a dangerous level, and could make your engine blow an apex seal out an exhaust port or two...
