Limited Edition

Did the 1984 or 1985 GSL SE have a Limited Edition if so was it a cosmetic difference or what.

I don't believe the GSL-SE had a limited edition, but the '84-'85 GSL did. I own one. The differences from other GSLs were the power steering and the "limited edition" badge on the roof B-pillars.

The power steering was also an option on the SE, but I don't believe it was designated as a limited edition.

Other options on all GSLs and GSL-SEs included leather and air.

In Canada, all GXs from '81-'83 (GX = same as GSLs in the states) and all GSLs and GSL-SEs had headlight sprayers.

No ****. Being that I used to be a Mazda dealer, I'll believe it when I see it...

I'm 100% sure there's no such thing in the US-if there was I would own it already.

Was it actually an GSL-SE or could it have been a GSL with an SE suspension swap?

Not saying it's impossible that the SE had an LE model, but I've yet to see one. Even LE GSLs were rare--- A guy in Vancouver who has been working on 7s for eons claims he's only seen a very few 1st gens with power steering.

Some time last year somebody posted a link to a site that had a copy of a 1984 issue of Car&Driver. There was a GSL-SE on the cover with a blonde aerobics lady and dumbells.

The accompanying text mentioned the power steering on that particular test car and how it was designed to diminish effectiveness as speed increased, but I can't recall if that model was referred to as an LE.

Does anybody have this link?

There aren't any GSL-SE "LE"s here in the US. All US "Limited Edition" models were simply styling packages, and none of them came with a limited-slip diff like the GSL models. The '83 LE came with the 14" "snowflake" wheels, while the '79 LE had 13" wheels which were similar to the normal "waffle wheels" found on the SA models.

Could there have been a Anniversary Edition for the 1984 or 1985 GSL-SE if there was no Special Edition. Or maby the Special Edition could have been in the UK, Austraila, Japan or even Canada. But as far as I know the only thing Special on the Canadian GSL-SE was the additional Headlight Sprayers.

Hmm. Cool, but I've never seen it b4. It doesn't even look like factory lettering for any Mazda sold over here.
