Lake City , Or Rotary Engineering Intakes
Which one? LAKESIDE, Or ROTARY ENGINEERING intake??? What carbs can you fit on the lake side city? What if i had (I am guessing the best) 51 ida on the L/C against dual 36 dcd's on the rotary engineering intake, which would make more? I mean with both of them dailed in!!!! I really want to know this one THANX LATERZ,
Andrew

Lace Cities is a side-draft manifold that puts the carb rover the exhaust manifold, so there is no 180 degree bend.
You need a special manifold to go with dual 36DCD's (they are progressive carburetors - have a primary and secondary setup) and a different manifold again for IDA's (which are downdraft, not sidedraft).

Ok I guess I am just totally confused , I did not know that there were that many types of carbs, and manifolds! OK, I know you can use 36 DCD carbs on a rotary engineering intake! I know you can use somekind of mukinni on a L/C intake, and the U shaped intake I guess are the only one you can use the IDA??? Say I have the rotary engineering intake with the twin 36 DCD carbs, a 51 ida with its intake, And a L/C intake with mukinnies, or sometime that works better, which would be the best(your own opinions), on each on of the type of ports, when dailed in??? Mikuni what?
There are three basic types of Weber manifolds... manifolds for side-draft carbs, manifolds for IDA-type downdraft carbs, and dual-downdraft manifolds for the 36DCD progessive carbs.
You can only put the 36DCD style carbs on the dual-downdraft manifold. You can only put IDA Webers (48IDA, or 51IDA which is just a modified 48IDA) on the IDA type manifold. But with the sidedrafts, things get interesting.
I know of four different manifold setups for the side-draft carbs. (By side-drafts I mean like the DCOE carbs, or the dell'ortos, or the mikunis - I think they all share the same bolt-up pattern) First is the Lake Cities, which puts the carb over the manifold, and the air has a more-or-less straight shot into the engine. There is also the TWM manifold, which puts TWO DCOE-type carbs next to each other in the same location. There are two types of single-carb manifolds that bend 180deg over the engine - one piece and two piece. (I don't know full details other than apparently the 2-pc units are junk?)
I'm not toally certain on the carb interchangeability issue, but I'm fairly certain that the sidedraft mikuni's and dell'ortos and webers will interchange.

They all use the same universal fitting.
The 2 piece isnt junk... it's just as good as the 180º one piece. They still cant compare to the Lakecities "straight" manifold though... but the LC also has its share of problems as it's sitting right above the headers.

So more or less, you all are saying, L/c intake(dunno the best carb, want to know?), or TWM with the DCOE's?
What carb. would work best on the L/C intake??? Are Twin DCOE's better than that carb.??? Any pics??? Any websites? Any body ever use a predator car? I might buy one off a friend for $80!!! THANX LATERZ,
Andrew
1.)L/C , Or twm intake???
2.)If the L/C was used what carb. would be the best?
3.)Are twin DCOE's better ^^that^^ carb??? ^^
4.)Any pics???
5.)Any websites???
6.)Any body ever use a Predator carb.?
Sorry for all the Q's, but I would really like to know every single one of them. If you know just one of my questions, dont hesitate to reply THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!!!!!!

I think you're going about this the wrong way. Do some research and decide what carb best suits your application in regards to porting and whatnot and then worry about the intake manifold.
Basically it comes down to this. If you decide to get a bridge-port or bigger then it's not worth wasting your time with anything other than a Weber IDA. Even on a street-port the other carbs won't have as much top end as an IDA but they should still work well.

A toy, ANYTHING GOES!!! I just want to have POWER, I was thinking, of having a procharger, with a turbo hat, mounted on, Lets say a 51 ida with whatever the best manifold is for it And of course all the goodies I am probably goin to get a job next week, and I just paid off all my debt So I have not a single reason why to put all my money into this thing but $250 a week , just might not cut it But would be fun mmmmmmmmmmm......... honda's for lunch So what is your opinion on the best carb, and manifold, any pics of nonstock carb, and manifolds ??? THANX LATERZ andrew

It would most likely be cheaper to get a Haltech (programmable fuel injection) setup than go with a Weber, especially with turbo...
If you have a $250/week budget you should be done by this summer

It's going to take you a little more than this summer @ $250 a week to pay for all the goodies.

Well,
The computer comes first So I will be set back about $1500 (I have to build a new one because I want one in the my room so I dont have to be bothered by anyone in the house ). I am going to buy a regular engine, and carb rebuild kit for the 79( just incase I "need it". Then I will buy EVERYTHING for the chassis, body, and interior of the 80. So I will have everything except for the engine, transmission, and paint In the mean time, I was gonna search around for good deals for my engine, just incase a "deal of a lifetime" came up , and the information helps for my usual day dreams , so instead of asking about this ****, i should be asking, if I should do IRS or somtin, huh? Well, I figure with $250 the very least i can make a week, I should be able to make around 4G or more be for I am put back in public school Man do I HATE public school! Cant make my own schedule there without those stupid teachers nagging you! Oh well, I guess I have to learn how not to be nocternal! Anyways I will make at least $250 as a base salary, now if I were paid cash I would work 90 hrs a week, and suck up my nocternalizing, but for now, I will have to follow the child labor laws and will only be able to work somtin, like 30-35 hrs a week I will see what the manager says when I go to the interview. Hopefully I get this job so I can stop turning in applications, unless..... I can find another one and then no one would really know i am workin two jobs But scheduling would be a bitch. But I would live , huh, I will see with my uncle (he's a lawer) Well THANX FOR THE HELP LATERZ, Andrew

Well I did not know he was kidding I figure he was just giving me a suggestion Well, why couldnt you run a haltech??? If they have a system thats universal, or works on a 13b, couldnt you just make a manifold? Just a thought, I might as well gather all the information while I can THANX LATERZ,

With a 12A he will have great difficulty in getting FI parts. Manifolds, Injector Bungs, Fuel Rails, will likely have to be Custom Made (read $$$). Getting a J-Spec 6 port 12A, or 12AT might help, but that would cost more than the project is worth.(read Mucho $$$)
A Haltech REQUIRES a tuner or someone who is VERY Good at that sort of thing. Dyno time ($$$) is VERY recommended as well.
HE wants the power, he could have it for about 2500 or less.
Stock 12A, (preferably ported)
Haltech F9
Stock Distributor (with the advancers tack welded)
Weber/Holly Carb
Used Turbo
Fuel Pump
Custom Turbo manifold ($350)
Used Intercooler
Straight Pipe Exhaust.
Voila! - Blow Through Turbo system, that would be considerably reliable (especially for a Toy) making a about 190-220 Hp. (Depending on port and boost)
Either this or a bridgeport 13B.

Man, I am gonna do what peejay, and yayarx7 suggested EFI Just to see if it is worth it on a 12a. The only thing I am puzzled about is, what port size should I use? I plan on getting the throttle body that is 55mm, and has 4 injectors, but....When I say port size, I mean if I should do a street port or a bridgy, I want it to run best with the EFI, specially when I am running the procharger(super charger like 5.0's have) So what port size??? Also will I need speacial apex seals for the boost, when reving high? If so what kind? And yet another, is the dcoe, or the ida intake best, for the most power??? Or does it not matter? Thanx LATERZ, Andrew
1.) What port size?
2.)Are special apex seals needed?
3.)DCOE, or ida intake manifold???
4.)sorry for all the Q's
5.)THANK YOU
