laggy rev

well got my 82 rex today
400$ so i wasnt picky about running

anyways i seems to be real sluggish about increasing RPM, and is lacking power
Im going to check the compression in a few days
i know it could also be a clogged cat

anything else i should check?

BTW is starts easy and idles nice

Give the ignition and fuel system a good look. Give it some fresh gas too.

well, my GS had a real slow rev, plugged the shutter valve and it revs freely, still has many other problems, but that fixed that one.

yea, the shutter valve is part of emissions anyway, so you might as well get rid of it, oh yea, after you plug it you have to turn the idle up and richen the mix a bit.

That shutter valve can get ya. I have seen them stuck in the energized position which closes the butterfly in the intake. It can gice you a low compression check on the back rotor as well. I have also seen the linkage come off and it would flop back and forth giving an intermittit problem.

You've gotta replace that vacuum line before you start tuning it.
