Kudos to Camden!

I bought a Camden supercharger off eBay a couple of weeks ago. It was intended for a boat, so some of the pieces I need are missing or the wrong part. So I called up Camden (actually I called Atkins, since they own Camden). They were VERY helpful...great to deal with!

It's going on my 13B 6 port, stock port. As recommended by the guy at Camden, I'm going to put a Holley 650 double pumper on it.

So they convert the entire car over the surpentine? Thats kind of a nice benefit to the system, no more belt slipage. When I was trying to design my own the belt system was the major headache.

Yea, they give you new pulleys for the water pump and alternator to accomodate the serpentine belt with grooves in it. Actually, the pulleys are two of the things I called Camden about. Since the system I bought was originally for a boat it had different pulleys. I can modify the water pump pulley, but they are sending me a new alternator pulley and I'm sending this one back to them.

Talking Camden

One of the first guys to use the camden was in norhtern Ca. He took a 12a and used 13b rotor housings and modified it. It was extremely quick and reliable. 64mg
i now truly hate you, lol. I have been wanting to run that set up for a long time.
It's much simplier than turbo and has no lag time. It also looks very impressive under the hood. When you get the motor done could you ship it out to me and i will put in myse and tune it for you, lol. You lucky old fart you. rx7doctor

Does the charger come with the lower intake manifold built in? How does it accomodate the 6ports?

Hah! I'll ship it right out to you! It is going to look cool under the hood. I think I got a good deal. This is an older unit but has never been used. I got it for less than $1400 including the pieces that Camden is shipping to me right now, I think it's a great deal. I've never done a turbo or a blower, but it sure looks like a blower is a lot easier than a turbo, especially if you run modest boost (6.5 psi) like I am.

It's not brown...it's sonic bronze metallic...very cool. Ask Ian, he was thinking about getting his painted the same color.

Yes, it comes with the lower intake manifold. This was an older unit intended for a 4 port. I'm currently working on modifying it to open up the port on the manifold to include the auxilliary secondary ports...this is what the guy at Camden said they do to make them fit 6 ports. Then you take out the sleeves.

Dude ! Boat Camdens won't ever work on a car because of the sea level angle sensor ! So how much will you sell it to me for ?

Just kidding. I'm jealous as hell ! Great find.

Actually, I knew that, so I'll be installing a transmorgifier to counteract the sea level sensor...should work out ok.
However, I am concerned about what to do with the propeller...

Inverse mount the propeller on the fresh water intake port and use it to intercool your blower, silly!

Well personally i use the gonkalator valve to revive the flux capacitor using 100
gigiwatts to open the reverberating valve. Of course this has to be used with that updated cusinart food processor, lol.
Hey 64mgb, i will trade my 84se straight across for the camden kit and yes i am serious. rx7doctor

Hey doc - that setup works, but it's so complicated and tough to keep tuned...I like the "set it and ignore it" feature of the transmorgifier (Calvin & Hobbes would be proud).
Your trade offer is tempting...tell me more about your car. I'm probably not interested...I really want to put this blower on! But you never know.

Just sell the damn thing to me and it will avoid the hassle of getting the cusinart to activate the transmorgifier. lol. rx7doctor

Just an update. I got the pieces I ordered from Camden...ordered them on Monday and got them on Friday. It's been great dealing with these guys. I'm still working on modifying the intake manifold so the seconday port openings are big enough that they accomodate the auxilliary secondary ports. As you can tell from the picture, I'm inexperienced at this type of work, but I'm getting better. I'm almost done with one side...just need to smooth it out a little bit. I went about 0.3" deep into the flange, which is about 0.56 thick. I talked to Dave at Atkins and he said I should go until it's almost cut through, but I'm too chicken.
