Kenmore Tuning!!
Check this out... me and a few buddies were screwing around... we didn't like the stock intake... we wanted to do something better. We will be running the tube out in front of the radiator for cold air as soon as we get more tubing.
We were halfway into detailing the engine bay (we = me and IoTus, and my friend Dave) when we decided to do this.
Explanation below...
notice the kenmore symbol on the adapter? Hell, yeah!!! Ok... here's what we did.
We were looking at IoTus's car for tubing that he wouldn't need with his TII swap, so we pulled his intake tube off.... sat and tried to figure out how to install it with a K&N cone filter.
We found the inlet piece for a garbage disposal that I had in my garage... don't ask. We cut slots in the sides near the bottom, pulled the mount piece out of the stock air box. (pain in the ****) If you decide to do this, you will need an air chisel or a jigsaw or something heavy duty. it took us a while. After we got the bracket out, we put it in from the inside, bent the brackets by using a hammer. We just screwed it in like normal. slide the intake tubing over the top, put a hose clamp on it, K&N and go. (BTW, you have to cut off the metal part that hooks onto the SE intake)

"pretty cool, did you fell any diference with that setup?"
Big Difference!!! My ***-O-METER said it's faster.
"It slices, It DICES! It does a 14 Sec quarter mile! Buy it on your Sears card and get 10% off."
We were thinking of jokingly sending a copy of the pic to Sears and ask for sponsorship....
"Thats getto."
Ok, I used the stock intake from an SE and just fabbed an adapter? Using the garbage disposal adapter just made things easier... didn't have to worry about getting a flanged tube made. The muffler shop wasn't open, so I couldn't get the extension pipe to run it down in front of the radiator for a true cold air intake. As soon as I get that done, I'll post pics of it, as well. I, personally think it is much better than the write-up on mazspeed.com and just about any other "cold air intake" that I've seen. Take a look at some of the new Jeeps, Chevys... see how their intakes are done. I did mine almost the exact same way. It works well, and it doesn't look bad at all.

Well, we needed the adapter to be able to screw in, so that meant we couldn't weld a pipe onto the top of it, because then we wouldn't be able to use the wing-nut. So, the elbows will be rubber, on the top of the carb, at least. I'll check into getting the muffler shop to just bend me a pipe to make the tube go all the way in front of the radiator instead of just a tube between the two rubber elbows. It will look much better with the pipe, as well.
Any other suggestions?
