Question Keep it or sell it

My 85' GSL has some pretty nasty front end damage, the frame rails are moved to the left about two inches, the passenger side rail is twisted, the front firewall is compressed about an inch, and there's still parts missing.

Should I try to fix it or sell it for $500 or so and find another, a friend of mine has an 84' GSL-SE for $400, but I want to know if the GSL is worth the time to repair.

Thanks,
Eric

it doesn't ound like it's worth it to me. You won't be able to fix it to the way it used to be. I'd jump on the GSL-SE if i were you, and transfer good parts over.

I've gotta sell the GSL to get the SE. I've got too many vehicles right now (6 Vehicles 1 motorcycle) have to get rid of a couple before I can get another.

Not to burst your bubble, but I have bought 1st gens for $50 that were driven to my house. Unless the motor is very low miles and the rest of the car is in vgc, you won't come close to 500. It's hard to part out a car and justify the price you are asking.

Okay, but how many people come across a 1st gen for $50?? never have I, and i've looked in alot of places, I'm not taking offence to what you've said, just saying in my neck of the woods 500 is a steal, just it might not be in yours.

If I were to part this car out, how much would I make? Theoretically. Would it be more than selling it outright?

If you want some honest answers you should post up some pics for people to judge.

Nothing's wrong with the se, it's owned by a good friend of mine, and i'm going to get it gotta sell the GSL first it'll be fixed before the sale, he wanted $900ish for it but is going to give me a deal.

I have gotten 2 parts cars. One free (the guy came to an autox, was spectating and came up to me and asked if I wanted the one he had in his garage, only thing missing was the trans). The other I got was pratch's parts car which was almost complete, sans a few items. That was in trade for a homemade version of a RB streetport exhaust I had built, along with Monza headers. Ive also turned down a couple of sub $200 cars, no room.

Parting it out would net you more $ for sure. Not to burst your bubble but I wouldnt go more than $200 for your car, and thats if its running and only the body is shot.

The damage is not to bad, A little time on a frame machine and it could be good as new.

I did pay $300 for a wreaked car one time. But it had an RB muffler, bonez cat, 2nd gen seats, And was in perfrect condition other then the wreak.

I could not get anyone to pay for an SE parts cars, and have ended up parting it, and I am Currently $100 over what I wanted for it.

On yours the good parts would be the engine, Tail lights. Some interior parts, the Glass sunroof, and the Diff. The Diff would be easy to sale and would bring $100 to $150 if it works correctly. $50 is way low right now. The Crusher will pay about a $100 for these cars.

The moon roof is going to go into place of the sunroof on the SE, unless it's already got the moonroof (I haven't seen the SE yet) Everything else is in really good shape minus the drivers side tail light lens.

Can somebody give me a general price range for parts, the highs, lows, and in between. Then I'll try the classifieds of the site.

Thanks,
Eric

Hades, what was your original asking price for the SE, if you don't mind me asking.
