I told ya Dave, 13B's are a bolt in proposition.
It's an '83 not an '84? That changes things a bit, just trivial stuff like it has the early style rearend and front spindles instead of the '84-85 stuff. '83 was kind of a halfbreed year, it had stuff from the '81-82 and stuff from the '84-85.
We will make it work, whether you want a 13B, 12A, or "whatever".
Damn... you have a 1st-gen, Ray has a 1st-gen, everyone's getting first-gens around here.
You wouldn't still happen to have the MSD I sold you would you? Throw it in there!
edit: I might know where to get a '83 12A and emissions setup, maybe. For that damned E-check. Reminds me, I have only three months to get my GSL smogged.

It wasn't just the '76-78 13B... all pre RX-7 13Bs were carb. Simply 12As with 10mm wider rotors. The GSL-SE engine was just a 12A 6-port with 10mm wider rotors and fuel injection (very similar to the injection used on the 12A Turbo).
Yes I still have the coils and the bracketry. You won't need a new distributor, unless the engine you get doesn't have one.

my red 2nd gen motor just went "djfasjdjbf!" on me. Burns oil like it is its job. Plus, it doesnt build good oil pressure once it start with some smoking. Not too bad but it is definite smoking. So i am pumped about doing my first rebuild...
not that this had anything to do with anything....

hey peejay,
do you have experience with 1/2 bridge ports? I am liking the idea seeing i dont need to worry about long term relieability with the the red car. but i am a DIYer and dont like to pay companies to do things. Just looking for advice.

i guess i am going to join the "save a 1st gen 7" bandwagon and get this 1980 red one that is newly added to the junkyard. It is still complete but needs some serious attention to rust. If i get it, the 12a and 5 speed are still in it with all the fun etc. DJchunter, if i get and you want the driveline, you can have dibs. I am sure the motor will need rebuilt though. Then again if you go 13b, nm.
