just picked up some 16x7 and 16x8..now i need tires, but what size?

i just received the second set of wheels i had to buy due to some fitment problem with my first pair..dammit. the first set is a set of work ewing in AMAZING condition and the second is a set of work equip in ok condition. anyways the equips are 16x7 and 16x8 and thats what ill be running till i get the ewings taken care of. what size tires do i need on the rear to try to keep my speedo as close as possible? i just need very little tire bulge in the front.

my cars details: its an 80 with the GSLSE rearend(4.09 gears). i may be switching to 4.44 in the future. if i could figure out what sizes id need for both set of gears thatd be great. thanks

i would say 205/40/16, and 215/40/16. that will make the overall diameter very simlilar to stock.

if i had the choice, that's exactly the size wheel/tire combo i'd go for, but for now i have a pair of enkei mesh, in 15" and need another pair

Head for the tire store, they will have the tires listed in revolutions per mile. Match that with the revs/miles of oem and you will be ok. Revs/miles from tire to tire, even in the same size. It's going to take a pretty low profile tire if you want the speedo to be accurate. The 4.44's will allow a taller tire, but that kind of defeats the pupose of the shorter gears.

I would probably run 205's even on the 8inch rim. The tire sticker says for 7-8 widths. be a pretty cool looking stretch. I just like the balanced feel of the same size tire all the way around

Just my opinion here, but nice, wide, expensive rims and stretched tires are curb rash waiting to happen. Yes, it may balance f/r handling and traction and allow the front and rear tires to be dismounted and rotated, but the traction issues can be addressed with suspension tweaks and the rear tread can last longer if it is wider and properly inflated.

U should look into the falken 615's. They grip really good, and when they step out its very very controlable. PLus they're pretty cheap for what you get. I pay $87 a tire. Post some pics of the work wheels. I really like the equip, i didnt think they came in a 16' rim. If you ever want to get rid of them let me know.

i will post pics of the wheels this weekend. the wheels are 5 lug, so that may pose a problem unless you plan on switching to 5 lug in the future. i dont know about the falken 615. i just looked into them and they look like something i definately want to try, but at this time i think ill have to go with the BFG's. i can get them for $64 a piece, less than $300 shipped. i dont really plan on having them for too long. im just really short on cash at this time. i was planning on maybe trying Advans in the future, but i may try the falkens instead.

pics....enjoy

first is a pic beside my bed. haha you should see how much stuff was beside my bed until i started putting it all on my car. you can see some of the approximately 20 banners i have, thanks to NOPI and a small corner of my whale tail im debating on installing or selling.

second is in the back set of my DD(94 accord 4 dr). that wheel is one of the 16x8 equips. i took it to work to weigh it and it weighed in at a *key the drum roll* weight of 18lbs.

third is the beautiful ewings i have. its too damn bad im having so much trouble trying to get these filled and redrilled so i can run them.

Man that 40 series is gonna be a rough ride. I put 205/50/16 on mine and the ride is smooth. Need the extra meat on the sidewall for the potholes around here!

What bolt pattern are you all around? 4x114.3? Youve got a ton of choices.

How much are u looking to get for the panasports? Whats the offset, bolt pattern on the epsilons and price?

I have a set of advan A048 195/50/16 man those tires grip like crazy, cant even break them loose dumping the clutch. But I love the price of the falken and the feel of them. They are so smooth when you bring them past there limits. Makes for some really fun mt driving, or drifting. As far as ride goes its not bad, but its pretty much a full blown race/street car now adays.

I have a set of 16x8.5 5x114.3 watanabe RS8's I may need to let go.

I had planed to do a 8.8 rear end swap, but now I'm pretty sure I'm staying -SE. And if I can put S4 hubs/rotors with S5 4pot calipers I'm sure I'll let the watanbe's go.

Matter of fact, didn't you alread call dibs on them '140?
