I've been wanting to replace mine, but I hate to give up my OEM setup AND that's a big hole to fill if I pull all three units out. Been looking at some double-din stuff, but nothing I like so far. Plus whatever I get could ONLY play the Oldies. No rap or hip-hop allowed

Well, the other day I picked up an unbroken stereo surround, and analog clock. I have a GSL which (for those who dont know) came with a joystick balance/fader control rather than a clock, and an equalizer rather than a pocket. Since the stereo was going to be replaced by an aftermarket unit that doesnt need these things, I pulled them out, and slowly collected the proper pieces. I got them all in today, and fixed all wiring issues. So now I have my stereo installed, the pocket, and clock all in working order. the stereo is temporarily only wired to the front speakers, but the rears will come soon enough. Also, you all know how much I love my digi, so I took some pics for ya too .

PS - I also added a page on my Car Domain site. If you wanna check it out, the link is in my sig .

I'm confused as to why everybody is so concered about filling up the empty sapces after you install an aftermarket CD player....
The previous owner of my 85 GS just took the car to circuit city, bought the deck, and had it installed at the same time.
Whenever you have a CD player professionally installed, they never leave "holes" in your console. They allways have some sort of kit to plug it up.
I'm sure you can buy the kit seprate. If I remember right, (i need to go look at the recipt) the kit was only like 30 bucks and sure looks a lot better than some of the stuff you guys have used to plug up th holes...

yeah most of those kits out there only fill in either a double D.I.N. area or a triple D.I.N. area but in my SE the space is actually a 2 1/2 D.I.N. so you would still have to do some cutting on the kit so why not make something that looks good too not cheap. Not only that you said the kit was like 30 bucks, I did mine with the diamond plate for under 10 so I also saved money heh

my block off plate goes from my one DIN cdplayer to the ashtray, and it looks ALOT better than a plastic storage hole-place filler.
I'll take some pics of it tomorrow.
