It's alive!

We got the supercharged 13B started this morning! First there was a blown fuse for the circuit that all the gages are on, so we didn't know we had good oil pressure. Then, the fuel pump wouldn't run. Found that when I had it apart and put it back together I put one of the brush springs on wrong so the brush was stuck and not making contact with the commutator. Once that was fixed, she fired up! Hard to start, but idles great and revs great! The blower makes a hell of a racket...I hope that's normal.

Yee Ha!

It's supposed to make a loud, obnoxious whine. It sounds great 20 feet away.

Congrats! Now just remember to stay out of boost until it's fully broken in. I know it will be difficult, but you can resist the urge.

Do you have a boost/vacuum guage? It makes things bearable because you can get up to 0 and then back off. It's technically boosting, but the engine never actually sees positive pressure, so it gives you the cake and lets you nibble on it.

Yea, I have a gage and sending unit, but couldn't figure out a good place to mount it. The sending unit wouldn't fit in the location that Camden told me was for a gage. Can I put a fitting in there and run some sort of hose or tubing to the sending unit?

I was going to post some video of the engine running, but something's wrong with my camcorder. I haven't used it for years. Don't know if the camcorder has something wrong, or if it's a bad tape. The audio is fine, but the video is bad.

I'll try to at least get some pics up.

Yea, I used to use foam swabs on my VCRs...they don't leave fuzz on the heads.

We got it to idle at about 1000, but I think it'll go lower. We just didn't tinker with it too much I have to do some research to see where I should be setting the air/fuel ratio. I stuck the O2 sensor for the LM1 in the tailpipe and it was about 11.5 when we started. We adjusted it closer to 14.7 and it didn't run as well. Not sure where it's supposed to be, but will be fun learning!
