Port job
within this next month (we hope) my friend will have his TII 13B in his FB, and I will be getting his engine, I have been thinking about porting it while it is out of the car.
Anyone who has ported themselves, it isnt too difficult to get the hang of is it?
I was thinking of grabbing some housings from the salvage yard to practice.
I also heard that you have to replace all of the gaskets when you tear the engine down, is that true?
I might end up doing that reguardless, so the engine has a little more prolonged life. also, I need to get a job soon, and when I get the 7 running I will be doing so, would it be worth it to port it now or just get it in and get the car running?
I was thinking I should just leave it how it is and rebuild my old 12a to more race specifications.

Airflow is my life
Go over to nopostons and check out the porting section. Everything you ever wanted to know about porting is there. Especially Judge Ito's writeups. Are you good with a high speed grinder and rotary files? And careful enough not to slip and gouge the housing face? Do you have the tools? Ive been rebuilding, porting, grinding, repairing cars and airplanes for 20+ years. So for me it was not too bad getting the hang of it. So what Im saying is you have to answer that question for yourself.
Yes all the soft seals need to be replaced during a rebuild. The kit is cheap.

Ive been doing body work for about 4 years now and have used my fair share of grinders and whatnot, I know that mazdatrix has a good porting section.
