internal measurments

I've tried the search and the faq, but for some reason I keep coming up empty,,,I am trying to find out the measurements of the apex, side seals to see if I can reuse anything for my rebuild... 85 GSL 12A
All help is appreciated...
And also I bought a digital clibrater, in mm and inc's would this work for finding out if parts are reusable...
Thanks

Ok found my answers @ http://www.mazdamotorsports.com/weba...1&subject=apex
My question is now when determining if the apex seal is reusableshould I measure from the wider part where the springs sit or from the space in the middle..
these are the measurments so far at the thicker part 8.35mm
and in the middle we are at 7.35mm

Yap I just read, at new they are about 8.5mm, mine being at what they are I believe they are reusable but everyone always says replace... What are you r thought on this,,.....
One question I have is that the second piece on the apex seals has a weird curve to them,,, This curve is exactly the same on all the apex seals,,, Do they have to be replaced, or is the way they are suppose to be?
Thanks for all your advise

Corner piece doesn't look right. Your apex seals are are worn aprox. 75% from new, how long do you want the fresh engine to last? I would replace them.

That's a dial caliper, and I'm sure that's what borinquen7 meant (except his is digital)...just having a little fun.

Sounds more like a bedroom tool than a shop tool.

https://www.rx7club.com.ar/tech/medi...ia/album0.html

this is how a new apex with corner piece looks like

new 8.5mm
used 8.35
limit 7.5

how come 8.35 is 75% worn?

looks like 75% new, or 25% used.

They should last a long time...

Hey I'de like to thank you guys, for all your help in my first attempt at a rebuild.. But after counting the numbers I fiqured it would be cheaper to buy a medium milage 12a about 30 - 60,000 for about the same money or less and be on the road right away, I have little time as it is,, It took me 2 months just to open the engine after I got it. Anyways I can Start driving,,, Once I get in a better place finacially, I'de like to try to rebuild. I've learned alot from this forum, alot from all you guys, and with you guy's help, time and a proper budget I am sure when I am ready. It' will be something i can be proud of...
Thanks again,, Peace Out
Cruz
