slashdawg: You need to remove the first screw from the rear carpet trim panel. That screw holds the rear panel and the corner of the side panel on.

I refurbed my rear wheelhouse trim panels with the SEM "dye". First off, this stuff isn't really dye. It's a flexible paint that works on lots of stuff, but it doesn't penetrate the surface much (like a true dye would), and it does build up a perceptible film thickness (like a paint would). It does dry quickly, like a lacquer, and it does seem to be reasonalby durable. As for surface prep, you only need to follow the instructions on the can. It tells you which SEM solvents to use -- if you follow them, you can't go wrong. As far as a color match, I have an '84 with the gray interior, and it turns out that it was a perfect match with the interior of my '03 Dodge Dakota pickup. I had the automotive paint store (where I bought the SEM) custom mix me the "dye" to the Dodge color. I prepped the surface per manufacturer instructions, sprayed it, and got excellent results.
