Arrow Interior Mods

I've been thinking of repainting/modding the rear interior parts of my car. My stock interior color is dark grey and I'd like to restore the plastic pieces to that color. Has anyone with the same interior done this? I can't seem to locate the right color.

Also, what does the rear seat look like in the 85 grey cloth interior? Thanks guys.

Don't know on the rear seat, but 82transam has refinished his rear plastic (his is black, but the technique should be the same). You might talk to him about it.

The black & clearcoat idea works well, especially if you do both the centre console and the instrument surround. On mine I also painted the switchplate/coin tray (where the stereo joystick used to go) that was generously given to me by a forum member.

You can go to the local paint store, and get body shop quality paints, and purchase a portable prevail sprayer and off you go (cheap, good quality and its a throw away thing).. Be sure to get some wipe down prep and some flex additive for the paint

@Manntis Man you need to adjust that ebrake, its way way up there... The FSM says 7-12 clicks

For my panels I'm using model airplane spray paint. I redid the rear panel (one with the light on it) first just to see how it looked since that one was most faded. I roughed it up with some relatively fine sandpaper, wiped it down with denatured alcohol, then shot it with 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of super gloss black. And topped it all off with 2 coats of clear. Looks friggin good too. I'm almost done doing the rest of the panels but ran out of spray paint, damn, only one coat left. Once I get my lazy *** to the store and get more I'll be sure to post pics. Its coming out really good. Good preperation is definatly the key.
85rx7gs: I think your biggest problem is going to be finding a color match. It might be almost impossible, but you should be able to find something close.

That looks GREAT! I can't believe it! Is that the cup holder setup under your radio?

To complete the black line, in my opinion, you also have to do the arm rest, and the turn things on the sides of the seats.

You also have to do the trim around the back (leave the center piece crimson) and every plastic bit onthe doors. Do the plastic around the edges of the bins, and also the strip across the back.

The part i have yet to do is underneath the front dash, on the plastic pieces that go back under. I can't seem to be able to get them out. ANy suggestions?

I will post pics of my old setup if people want (the one w/ the crimson interior. My new one is grey)

Peace

Geoff

I carry the shift boot on my site

http://www.wigglepup.com/RX-7/feature_shifterboot.php

The silver thing in my dash is indeed the stainless cupholder/stereo face setup, and the thing sitting on the seat is the facia for same with the tri-gauge option.

well, while we're on the subject of interiors. does anyone know if there was ever a leather seat option for the brown '84-'85 cars? i remember there was like a tan/champagne color for '83 that had leather seats, but i think they may be a bit light for my interior.
