Interior

Hmm, well I've looked through the galleries and still don't see too many interiors that I've liked for my car, that wine stuff is just nasty. New seats are in order of course, but I'd much rather have something like a black interior, were these available in 79? Other than that, what kind of prices am I looking at if I can find a full black interior, or if not available, to get someone to paint/upholster the interior?

I could also do something completely custom, has anybody seen custom SA/FB interiors? I've seen a few nice center consoles, but that's about it.

You can take a look at mine for ideas. The pic doesn't do the color justice. For some reason it coms out rather Orangy, but see for yourself at:

Those are all pretty nice man. Has anyone painted their dashes or should I just try and find a black one and just swap it in?

I'm not quite done with mine yet... still need to get a new steering wheel and custom red/blk 'RX7' floor mats.

What's with you guys and the fruity interior colors?
It's a freakin' old sportscar, it ought to have an interior that's appropriate for it's vintage. JMO.

Jeez your so cranky. Its a little too much color for my tastes I agree, but I could enjoy having a little more style in my interior. Just a toned down version of the ideas here. A little accent here and there. Would be nice for me.

Look up a company in Toronto called Parasol Inc. They sell a product called vinylkote that costs about $120 per liter, but one liter will do your entire interior.
Sprays on with a spray gun like paint but that's where the similarity ends--- the stuff looks and feels like original vinyl and wont flake off.
I re-did the burgundy interior of my '85 GSL last July and it looks like new again--- no faded green or puke brown hues to be seen anywhere.
A lady in ontario tipped me off to the stuff after she used it to change the tan interior of her '83 rx7 to black.

My old '82 RX-7 had the maroon interior originally. I swapped out the dash for a black one and used a vinyl dye to color the tops and bottoms of the door panels black, along with the rear hatch plastic trim. It looked pretty good.
