Interesting Noise When The Wheel Is Turned Right or I Step on the Brake

Hey guys,

So I have been hearing a very weired noise latley. It about 2 months ago only when I got on the brakes very lightly, like coming to a stop. Then the noise got louder and it is starting to occur when I ONLY turn my wheel to the right or if I got on the brakes lightly.

The noise sounds like a horn or a type of honking if you will. Also, when I am making a right hand turn as I am hearing the noise, it will get louder if I get on the brakes lightly.

Could this be my brake booster?? It is a very weired noise and it sounds like it is coming from the engine bay (steering rack??).

What do you guys think?

Thanks!!

Ryan

PS- from what I can tell, it hasn't compromised the way the car drives.

When a brake booster fails, the pedal becomes rock hard and pedal effort increases. With this occuring only when turning in one direction and not the other, it's more likely related to one wheel or the other. Start with an inspection of the pads/rotors, then the calipers and wheel bearings. Don't forget to check the torque on the lug bolts too.

A less than perfect bearing and a sticky caliper can cause a funny noise.

Hmmm... thanks for the info guys. Ya, that was my first response, that it might be the actual brakes themselves. I have brand new rotors front and rear with new rebuilt calibers in the front and new bearings in the front (about 1,000 miles ago). I just recently put on a GSL LSD disc to disc rear end on my car so I was thinking hat might be making the noise. But the fact that the noise seems to be coming from the front and when I turn the wheel makes me think it is just the front.

I will have one of my buddies who is a certified mechanic check it out this week.

Again, thanks for your input, always very helpful!
