If you own a 7, you gotta like rally or road racing. Thats what they were made for. They dominated in these two areas when they first came out. I believe in 82 or 83, the RX-7 took the top 5 places in IMSA racing, or something like that.

Sportscars rule, Bikes are next. Give all the other sports to the 'Coors Lite' set.

Not to offend any of you sports guys out there. but i think one reason most of us 1st gen guys dont watch sports is well.... lets face it.. we're nerds. the SA/FB is a pretty nerdy car, as far as sports cars go. Its old, kinda high matanince, was never extremly popular. And i dont know about you, but i bought my first one cause i wanted a car that wasnt very common. But with good potentintal. I like old cars, also another charateristic of being a little nerdy.

so yeah, i kinda forgot where i was going with this. i did have a point when i started... but ill just leave it at that.
I prefer the term "geek with social skills" a nerd is a loser with a pocket protector and hair slicked back so much that its glued to your head. More on topic, yes geeks don't usually like sports much, our breed is more a loner type IMO, we dont go mainstream with much.

Good point. I guess i just prefer the term nerd over geek because "geek" seems to be tossed around rather lightly now-a-days. Seems like you could call anyone with a pda, or a camera phone a geek. thanks to the mainstream popularity of techtv. *stupid techtv*. Nerd seems a little more serious, or in-your-face.

Maybe you need a separate poll for SA owners, because I like just about any sport outside of soccer, hockey, and NASCAR.

Yeah - old skool geek.

As far as sports go, there are a few sports I can sit through on TV or in the stands. Some motor sports but definitely not asphalt oval like Nascar (TM). Like bliffle, I think the Tour de France rocks. Track and field keeps me interested. And, for some bizarre reason, I can sit and watch bowling for a while, but I'm sure that's a reflection of some deep-seated psychological scar from my childhood though.

yea ..i cant stand sports also.

I just dont get any satisfaction ond dont know how any does by waching someone you dont know or never will, score a point, fieldgoal etc.
even if they are from your state, town village what will you personally get out of it????

But auto racing ...the vibration from the blacktop itself is thrilling!!!!

but if you own a drag car (like Myself)....there is no feeling like it...running 10's or faster and seeing only the blue sky for a second....Priceless!!!

Well it looks like the theam is rotory enthusiast NOT EQUAL to sprots enthusiast...

I have a great deal of disdane for sports of most kinds.

I do enjoy Auto Racing of almost any kind (no patients for the whole cart/Indy thing) and foot ball.

I myself have raced sail boats comptitvly, mountian bike, and curl. I no longer race boats.

These activities all take finess and thought to participate in.

My biggest problem with organized sports is the knuckle dragging dim wits they create. The way Jocks work is much like the close minded V8 guys. If you don't fit into their little tiney box of what an acceptable person should be then you are less than human and are treated as such.

One note for all thoes Dominant Male Monkey supper jocks out there still in high school...

The GEEKS will inherit the Earth...

BTW flames can go to /dev/null

Depends on how you define "enthusiast". From the results of the poll, it appears that we as a group enjoy sports of one sort or another but do not live or die with the performance of "our team". I think that's the differentiator.

Please don't lump all team sports together. As a member of a high-school cross-country (running) team, I spent more than my share of time avoiding knuckle-dragging "jocks". It sounds like you're defining "jocks" as a clique, and that I can agree with.
