You might or might not know that i make the headlight and wiper bushings for the 1st gen.
Ive been asked a couple times to make door lock surround trim, but up to now, the materials ive had have not been suitable for it.
The material i make the bushings out of seem to be flexible that it could print these small parts with tabs that wont break.
I need a couple of test subjects to test them out. they are only in black as the colors of this material are limited and black seems to match all interior colors even if not original.
If youre interested in testing a set, send me a PM with a name and address and ill send you a set to test.
Ill be sending sets to the first 3 PM's i receive.
Ill post some pics after i receive feedback from those 3 individuals and refine the design based on that feedback
Not to dismiss your considerable repro skills (I am a customer), but Mazda still sells the BLACK surround that fits over the door lock ****, if we are talking about the same part?

thanks for this. I was going based on a number of people asking me if I made these. I assumed they were no longer available. Do you know if that’s for 1 or the set?
I guess the only good side even if the oem are still available is that mine would have zero risk of ever breaking the tabs or actually breaking them due to the material. At the same time I do understand trying to have it all oem, especially for those doing a resto.
I have your headlight bushings from eBay. Awesome product. The flexible (orange) rubber/plastic you print with is great.
One thing I really need are the small ovalized plugs that block the screw holes on the rear hatch trim. over the years these seem to get lost. Always bugs me seeing my missing plugs.
The small oval plugs that cover up the screw holes for the screws that hole the rear interior trim on. There are 6 or so on each side, that go around and cover up the screws that secure the trim to the chassis. Around the window frames etc.
Kinda tiny. It may even be easier for me just to make some oval plugs from black plastic haha.
I would buy some of those rear interior plugs for the trim in the cargo area.
Also theres these little round plugs that go over the screws that hold the center console (2 on each side). I've lost most and have one broken one. I would pay for some of those as well.

Me too. I have the two plugs on the center console, but one broke when I tried to reinstall it. I didn't try the other 'cause I know what's gonna happen.
If someone has any of those plugs left that could take a picture and some basic dimensions i would appreciate it. I think i know what you guys are talking about, but like i said, its been over 8 years since ive had an interior on my 7. I should be able to make them rather easily if its what i am picturing in my head. Thanks
kutukutu1 sent me a set of door lock surrounds to test. These things are outstanding. Look nice, plastic is flexible and I can tell these things will outlast the factory ones and not get hard and brittle.

Thank for the post KC. It looks like i should add a larger radius to the top to make it look closer to the original. it also looks like it should be slightly thicker.
Ill make these changes and post up pics. Cost is likely to be in the $10 shipped to the lower 48 and Puerto Rico for a set of 2.
Thanks again to everyone that has supported these parts for the past few years.
The door lock inserts are currently available on ebay.
Forum rules dont allow me to post a link, but they are easy enough to find "Rx7 door lock insert"
Its $10 shipped for a set to all 50 states.
Thank you all for the continued support.
Guys, invest in a can or two of plastic interior trim paint!
Most colours (colors to you) are available through various parts outlets
If you really want exact match have some acrylic paint mixed to spec - as long as the part doesn't flex acrylic is fine (and lasts longer than unprotected plastic)

Many people will color match my pull cups since they are hard plastic, but the door lock inserts are of a flexible material, so no luck there.
They should be hard. I got a NOS pair from Japan a few weeks ago and they are hard black ABS plastic.
Try antelope dot nippon at gmail dot com, SHO KAWA can often source stuff you would think is NLA.
Helps to look up the part number and supply that.

They are 3d printed and to mold them like the pull cups is not cost effective for me.
I don't think plasticiser in urethane would be a good option, something that small would be a PITA to coat evenly.
Good to see a real use for a 3D printer and someone willing to do this sort of thing.
