Angry intake leaks are stupid!

ok so heres the deal...i was preparing my engine for startup and when i go to fill it up with water it starts leaking like a sieve from the intake maniold. so crap, i figure i havent torqued down the bolts enough, so today i take the carb off and torque down the bolts pretty good ( i would say about 30ft/lbs.) try filling it up again and it still leaks. this really frustrates me so i take the intake manifold off to see if one of the orings isnt aligned or something, everything looks good. i decide to make sure that this is where the leak is coming from so i plug the holes with my thumbs and have my mom fill it with water and of course it doesnt leak because it wants to be as difficult as possible. after this i slather some silicone on the orings and put on a new gasket making sure everything looks good. i tighten down everything put water in and IT LEAKS AGAIN!! im going nuts. im afraid to torque the manifold down too much because i dont want to crack it or anything, but it looks like the gasket isnt seated completely against the block because the orings. does anyone have any suggestions? im thinking about just plugging those holes since i dont really live in super cold weather what are the pros cons fo this? thanks in advance for any help you can provide.ttyl

People have plugged them before. All aftermarket carb manifolds that I know of dont have coolant passages anyway.

Are you sure you didnt crack it already? It might be hard to see because it might only open when you torque it down. Check carefully.

if i remember right, 2 quarters and some gasket sealer are what i used to seal my intake passages. 2 years, no leaks, no worries.
