Nick, use brake cleaner instead of starting fluid. If you really need a pic of a ground wire, I can post one late tonight.

I did have an intake gasket leaking. The O ring had a crack and so did the gasket it self. Gotta order a new gasket where can i get 1 other than racing beat and the dealer? I didnt see it on atkins site? None of the local auto parts places could get it but i did find out they could get a full gasket kit. I still need to redue the grounds how mant should i do and where? Should i use 8ga or 4 ga? I got extra O rings I bought them last time i needed a intake from racing beat. Nevermind i just called and ordered 2 intake gaskets from racing beat.

I buy a sheet of gasket paper and make my own intake gaskets. Don't have the patience to wait on the mail or the time to drive to BD. I also plug the intake coolant ports on the housings, no more o-rings. 20 mm freeze plugs.

Freeze plug is Dorman Part# 555-101. You will need to draw the coolant down below the ports in the housings and clean the mating surface with the plugs. They can be a bitch to tap in straight. I use a socket that fits just inside the plug and a short 3/8" extension as a driver. Tap the plug about 1/16" past flush, then cover the joint with J B Weld.

8ag for the ground wire is fine, I think mine is a 10 or 12. It's the green wire in the pic. Both ends of the ground wire use existing holes.

Fpr is the Mallory 4309 that I recommended earlier, it's a return style.

Here's my trick to making intake gaskets. Cut a piece of gasket paper to cover the mani. On a clean mani, spary brake disc quiet. It's an adhesive spray. When it tacks, stick the paper on. Use an excto-knife to trim the perimeter and ports, a sharp #2 pencil to poke the bolt holes, then trim them. Done.

ok got the gaskets on and everything sounds like **** and still wont start? Hard to say what it sounds like when tring to start. Some times it sounds normal other times it sounds like grinding and the battery aint got enough juice. I have been using a battery charger with a 200 amp quick start to try and help it get started. Still no luck really really getting tired of messing woth it.

Sound with the Mikuni should be the same, other than maybe a little more intake noise, which you really won't notice until it does start, and run.

You are either very badly flooded, vacuum leak, or both. Explain the grinding.

I will take some pics of teh engine bay some time today and try agian to post pics on this site with this new camera. Cant really tell if teh grinding noise is coming from the starter flywheel area, or coming from inside the motor. I am thinking the fly wheel as some times it sounds normal and sometimes I hear this grinding. I checked the teeth on the starter and fly wheel both show some where. but dont look like any major damage.
