installing my intake and carb
Ok got my intake and carb on might need a little help i have read about the mikuni and stuff. Well i am having problems getting it started. Got good spark and fuel at about 4-4 1/2 psi motor has less than 25 miles on a rebuild. Used a holley 600cfm for a awhile but was way to big. Any way now the started aint turning over? What could I have f ed up now? No leaks found so that is good checking all the fuses gonna jack the car up and check the starter. Any other ideas?
Info about the car its a 12A stock port just got back from being rebuilt 5speed.

yea taking it off now you dont happen to have 1 around there do you? Late 82-85 12A or 13B. At least thats what it looks like from my reading. O and it has to be from a manual of course. When i get it off i am taking it to autozone to have it tested.

also batt might have died from all the cranking. or a fried starter.
for initial startup on this type of carb i like to make sure the plugs are clean and dry, sometimes helps to be sure the engine isnt flooded and turn it over a few times with the plugs out.
put the plugs in and pump the gas all the way down 3 to 4 times, then while cranking give it around 1/4 of throttle and nurse it up as it starts to catch itself.

When we installed jonjonwells Mikuni, it flooded the engine at first and we had a hard time getting it to fire up after that. Even with deflooding and sandblasting/cleaning the plugs, we still had trouble. We finally got it started by jon cranking it over while I used an oil can to quirt oil in the carb. The pic he posted in your other thread was from the first time we got it to stay running on it's own.

The plugs are new but i am gonna get another set. The air filter housing i got with mine wont fit so i guess i ll have to worry about that after i get it running.

Sorry to hear you are still having troubles. Definately try the oil. I would also mention the my car only likes to start with the pedal pushed about 1/4 of the way down. Just a little bit of a sweet spot. I think it needs more air for startup, who knows. Just though I would mention it..... Good Luck, keep us posted

If everything looks normal (warning lights on the dash, head lights, etc...) and you get nothing when you turn the key to the start position, it's probably the sensor wire. It's the small clip on wire that goes on the top of the solenoid. Make sure it's a good, tight fit.
If you have trouble starting it while it's turning, a few small sprays of wd40, right down the throat will work wonders.

Ok really close to starting with new plugs but then it did the samething it did last night. Starter not turning over? All the wires are hooked up and everything. What else and why does it not do it all the time?
