I purchased a 25 dollar Purolator inline regulator that promptly broke after I used it for the first time. This pegged my 5psi gauge out and broke that too...nice eh?

 

Holley makes a nice one and it is only like $22 out of Jeg's.

For a kick *** fuel system on the cheap, go to a swap meet, great stuff can be had there. I got my fuel pressure regulator, a high volume Barry Grant pump and ~20 feet of braided hose with Russel fittings for only $45!

One word of warning. Run a heavy duty 40 amp relay and 8 gauge wire to that pump, or you will melt your wire harness. That system should deliver more than enough flow to support my 400 or so HP monster motor.

I have a Carter ten pound pump...that's not goin to melt the harness is it?

 

Its completely adjustable from like 3-20 PSI (forget the exact numbers, but its close). It has one inlet and two outlets, but one outlet could be capped.

Regarding the fuel pump...
For any fuel system, even stock, and especially aftermarket, a performance gain can be realized by running 8 or 10 guage wire to the fuel pump. How you can do it safetly is to go to a car stereo store and buy about 15 feet of red 8 guage wire and about 2 feet of black 8 guage wire. Hook these as the power and grounds, and make sure you FUSE the red wire with about a 30 amp fuse no less than 12" from the battery. Hook the red wire from the battery to a 40 amp relay (use the normally open terminals) to the pump, and the black wire to the pump and to a good clean ground. Then use the OE fuel pump leads as the power and ground for the coil on the relay. Make as much of the wiring inside the car as you can, and only run the two leads (8 GA power and ground) outside to the pump.

This is a very common mod to get higher fuel pump delivery to support hither HP output on cars like DSM's.

hey rotonomo, that may just be the info i've been looking for! i've posted under fuel pump relay. i had a holley red pump hooked up, and i may have scorched the relay. check the other post for more detail. where do you get the bigger relay? i sure hope this fixes those pesky elec gremlins!
