im a noob!

Hello.
my name is ryan.
i have 1979 mazda RX7 with about 62xxx miles on its second motor.
my dads friend sold it to me for a grand. it was a steal!
only thing bad about it is the driver seat has some tears and the carpet is close to bein done for.
im wanting to turn it into an old skool drifter.
i dont want to swap in a 13b unless ireally have to.
i did some reading and there is a EFI 12a but i want to know how hard it would be to do the convert?

a nother good thing about the buy was it came with a parts car. i think an 83 model.
needs motor and rear glass. so if i have to do 13b swap then i got 2 first gens.

a little more about my self.
my first car was a 1992 nissan 240sx stock KA24det. my friend and i rebuilt the motor when it had 140xxx miles. did it in a week. i didnt go alot of work cuz im new to the working on car thing. but i learned alot. i loved that car but had to sell it when i moved about a month ago.

i guesss that all i can say.

but if all goes wrong and i can't do it. it will be a daly driver for my AE86 build. and when that is done im sellin it to my father cuz he just loves it.

Well Ryan, welcome to the club. I'll say it before anyone else - search and you shall find. The EFI 12A is a JDM turbocharged engine that is ultra rare, and probably won't get your hands on it. Tons of options though. Just search, and keep reading.

Also, a couple great websites for parts:
www.rotaryshack.com (not actually ordered anything yet, but that is where I'll be ordering a turbo from eventually)
www.racingbeat.com

If you want power go 13BT, the engine from the TII 2nd Gen. Robert at Rotaryshack sells them for $1300 with a warranty. That's the way i'm going to go.

You can turbo the 12a and get good power out of that too, which is what I'll be doing so I don't have to worry about ECU wiring and all that junk, and making mounts. In my '83, I'll probably do a TII swap.

1 AAutomotive for carpet replacement. As for seats, the SA seats are a little thin on padding, FB seats will fit if you can find a decent set.
