Fuel filter is located under the car on the driver side just in front of the gas tank, held in by a metal "spring" clip. First, disconnect battery, dont want an errant spark to ruin your day, then crawl under car, remove the 2 lines from the filter, take the old filter out of the spring clip, install new filter, replace lines, and you are done. reconnect battery, turn key to run so the fuel pump turns on, check for leaks, and if there arent any leaks, start her up.....you are done.

Safety is job one, for sure.

Another thing that always gives me a headache is unless you are really quick with the filter change the gas tank will start draining on your head if you don't plug the feeder line. Kind of makes you a human Molotov cocktail when you crawl out from under the car.

You cant really check for leaks until you give it a little crank. The fuel pump relay does not allow the fuel pump to switch on until you get a trailing spark.

If you pinch the lines with a pair of vice grips, you minimize fuel spillage.

I just did this on mine. I forgot to pinch the line before pulling it off. A splash of gas in the eye really doesn't feel very good. Using vice grips to pinch the line off before pulling it off of the filter works really well.

Good point, didnt think about that when I did mine last week....since I had just rebuilt the ole Nikki I drained the tank and lines to get rid of any "extras", so I didnt have to worry about gas in eye syndrome...
