I'm having electrical problems...

Ok, so in my car, a lot of the interior lights don't work, such as the dome light, the backlight for the little heater lever, and that light right next to the dome light that you have to flip back and forth to turn on. Also the radio doesn't turn on (but the backlight does ) and the buzzer for when you leave the key in with the door opendoesn't work, along with the rpm buzzer. What do you think could be wrong? If it isn't the fuses, what would it be?

Do you have a hanes or other manual, try to find something all those components have in common. Such as a ground or a power source. I did some looking in my hanes manual and they seemed to have a common point at X-13 on the grid... this is either a ground or a connection, they dont really specify. However, it is located on the drivers side of the engine compartment. Below the brake master cylinder. All of this could mean nothing, but the connector number X-13 showed up alot under the interior lighting circuit diagram.

You need a wiring diagram and a multimeter. Essential tools for problems of this type; it could be as simple as one bad connector somewhere, but without the diagram to guide you, and a meter for testing continuity and voltage, you're in a boat without a map or a paddle.

Begin by checking power and ground at each device, pull a bulb out and check for 12v power when the light is supposed to be on. Then check to see if there is a good ground available as well.

Get the driver's seat out and troubleshoot through the electrical harness. This will take a long time but if you do it right you will probably find the problem. The back electrical harness connects in back of the drivers seat and will have to take the back part out also.

Download the wiring diagram here

The dome lights are grounded through the mounting screws, be sure they are tight.

Fuse for this circuit is 15 amp, 2nd from rear, left side of fuse box. Test the Blue wire with yellow stripe in the radio plug. It should always have 12V, even with car off. Overhead lights, key reminder buzzer, door lock light, key light, amps and radio are all on this circuit.

You removed the center console and checked the HVAC selector illumination bulb? I'll bet that one is a loose fitting or bad bulb. Its on a totally different circuit.

old thread, didn't want to start a new one. i have a similar problem. mods: aftermarket radio, semi-gutted interior.
I fixed my interior lights by doing the jump method. but i don't have my dome light nor the map light working. I will just look for a break in power. i tested a different bulb so its not the bulb.

The weird thing, however, is that my hvac is going crazy, heat is defrost and defrost is heat. anyone else have this problem?

Sometimes a rivet will come off of the dome light terminals. If this connection is lost neither light will work. Check to see that both terminals the dome light bulb snaps into are still attached properly.

i am also having a problem. my turn signals both light up, along with the rear defroster light in the cluster whenever you press the brakes. all the lights seem to pulse too, and i have been told that the turn signals even seem to be on when the brakes arent pressed. i think it could be a grounding issue at the tail lights. does anybody have any other suggestions?
